Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Psychiatry

 This on-site, contract position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated psychiatric physician to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative clinical environment.

As a Locum MD – Psychiatry, you will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Working on-site at our practice, you will work alongside experienced healthcare professionals, delivering continuity of care and supporting the overall mission of 77 consultants to provide accessible, effective, and compassionate mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and diagnostic interviews with patients.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient history, and evidence-based psychiatric practices.
• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications as clinically appropriate.
• Provide crisis intervention and supportive care for patients presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms.
• Document all patient encounters accurately and maintain complete, up-to-date medical records.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in case reviews, consultations, and clinical discussions with the care team.
• Educate patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication management, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards governing psychiatric practice.
• Support continuity of care across clinical shifts and patient transitions within the practice.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Associate-level clinical experience in Psychiatry or equivalent practice experience as a psychiatric physician.
• Active medical licensure or eligibility for licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Board certification or active board eligibility in Psychiatry preferred.
• Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Solid knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to work effectively in an on-site, contract setting in Westampton Township.
• Strong documentation practices with electronic health records or clinical documentation systems.
• Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and commitment to patient safety and ethical practice.
• Ability to manage a varied patient caseload and respond effectively to urgent psychiatric needs.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p

No call required

Setting: Inpatient

Daily Volume: 16 patients

Average Length of Stay: 14 days

Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics

Case Types: Older adults and dual-diagnosed

Support Staff: CMO, 3 physicians, 4 APNs, PA, and a hospitalist

Must be board-certified
