 This on-site, contract position offers a compelling opportunity for an associate-level pathologist to deliver high-quality diagnostic services within a dynamic healthcare environment. As a locum tenens professional, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care through accurate and timely pathological evaluations.

In this role, you will work on-site in Tampa, collaborating closely with clinicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure precise diagnoses and effective treatment planning. Your expertise will directly contribute to the quality and reliability of our diagnostic services, helping us maintain the highest standards of medical excellence in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic evaluation of surgical pathology specimens, including biopsies and resections
• Interpret laboratory results and provide accurate, timely pathological diagnoses
• Prepare and sign out comprehensive pathology reports in accordance with established guidelines
• Collaborate with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams to discuss complex cases
• Conduct frozen section consultations during surgical procedures to guide intraoperative decisions
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and peer review activities
• Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in the laboratory information system (LIS)
• Provide consultation services to clinicians regarding specimen handling, test selection, and result interpretation
• Stay current with advancements in pathology, diagnostic techniques, and industry best practices

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology
• Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Florida
• Associate-level experience in pathology practice, including surgical pathology and laboratory diagnostics
• Strong diagnostic and analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting
• Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and digital pathology tools
• Ability to work independently in an on-site setting while being an effective team player
• Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and patient confidentiality
• Eligibility to work as a locum tenens physician within the United States

Schedule: 8-hour day shifts

Setting: Onsite preferred

Patient Census: 20 per day

Must be board-certified

Paid travel & expenses
