Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Gastroenterology

. This is a contract, on-site position ideal for an Associate-level physician looking to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic clinical environment. As part of our client's Gastroenterology department, you will play a key role in delivering specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services within the medical practice industry.

In this locum role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, technicians, and fellow physicians. Your expertise will directly contribute to improved patient outcomes, efficient clinical workflows, and the continued reputation of the practice for excellence in digestive health care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions
• Perform endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and biopsies
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans for patients
• Collaborate with primary care physicians and specialists on patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
• Educate patients on digestive health, prevention, and lifestyle modifications
• Adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in case reviews and clinical quality improvement initiatives
• Provide on-call or inpatient consultative coverage as required
• Supervise and coordinate care with nursing and support staff
• Stay current with advances in gastroenterology research and best practices

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Valid medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
• Associate-level clinical experience in gastroenterology
• Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures
• Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
• Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification
• Preferred: Additional fellowship training or subspecialty experience in gastroenterology

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30a-4p

No call required

Daily Volume: 8 patients

Must be board-certified
