Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Hematology Oncology

Description

 This is a contract, on-site position offering an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide specialized care in a collaborative and patient-focused clinical environment.

In this role, you will deliver comprehensive hematology and oncology services, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients with blood disorders and cancer. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of patient care, contributing directly to improved outcomes within the medical practice.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans for patients
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work, imaging, and biopsies
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and specialists
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
• Provide patient education and counseling on treatment options and care plans
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed
• Participate in clinical rounds, case reviews, and team meetings
• Ensure compliance with medical practice standards, regulations, and protocols
• Coordinate referrals to other specialists and healthcare services as required
• Stay current with advances in hematology and oncology research and treatments

Requirements

• MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology
• Associate-level experience in hematology oncology clinical practice
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
• Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and managing hematologic and oncologic conditions
• Experience administering chemotherapy and managing treatment regimens
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, on-site clinical team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Willingness to work on a contract basis in Worcester

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 10-hour day shifts

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Volume: 12-15 per day

Preferred Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
