Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Gastroenterology

This contract, on-site position offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality gastroenterology care in a dynamic Medical Practice environment.

As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will deliver comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with digestive system disorders. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and continuity of care within the medical practice.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions
• Perform endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory results
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans for patients
• Collaborate with primary care physicians and specialists on patient care
• Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic medical records
• Educate patients on digestive health, prevention, and treatment options
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the practice
• Ensure compliance with all medical regulations and standards of care
• Manage chronic gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS, IBD, and GERD
• Coordinate referrals for advanced procedures and specialized care as needed

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Valid medical license in good standing
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Associate-level experience in clinical gastroenterology practice
• Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures
• Strong clinical diagnostic and decision-making skills
• Experience with electronic medical records systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30a-3:30p

No call required

Setting: Outpatient

Daily Volume: 15 patients

Caseload: General outpatient GI procedures

Support Staff: RN

EMR: Epic

Board certification required

ACLS and BLS required

Paid travel & expenses
