Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Critical Care

This is a contract, on-site position within the Critical Care department, offering an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical environment.

In this role, you will deliver comprehensive critical care services to critically ill patients, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists. You will play a vital part in managing complex medical cases, performing procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and outcomes within the intensive care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care to patients in the intensive care unit (ICU)
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of critically ill patients
• Develop, implement, and manage individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging
• Perform critical care procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and ventilator management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic medical records
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams regarding prognosis and care plans
• Participate in code blue and rapid response teams
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards
• Provide guidance and support to nursing and ancillary staff as needed

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
• Valid medical license to practice in the state of Colorado
• Associate-level experience in critical care or intensive care medicine
• Strong clinical skills in managing critically ill patients
• Proficiency in critical care procedures and ventilator management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities under pressure
• Commitment to patient safety and quality of care
• Experience with electronic medical records systems
• Willingness to work on-site in Denver on a contract basis

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-8p, and 10 or 12-hour weekend shifts

No call required

Daily Clinic Volume: 30-45 patients

Must be comfortable seeing children under 3 months old

EMR: Practice Velocity

Must be board-certified

ACLS and BLS required

Medical malpractice insurance covered by Medicus
