Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Cardiology

. This is a contract, on-site position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced cardiology physician to provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment.

As a Locum Cardiology physician, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular conditions, working alongside a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving patient outcomes and ensuring the delivery of comprehensive cardiac care within our practice. This role is ideal for a physician seeking flexibility and rewarding clinical work in a supportive setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiovascular assessment and diagnostic services for patients
• Interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs), echocardiograms, stress tests, and other cardiac diagnostic studies
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with cardiac conditions
• Manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, nurses, and other specialists to coordinate patient care
• Perform and document thorough patient histories, physical examinations, and progress notes
• Educate patients and their families on cardiac health, treatment options, and preventive care
• Participate in on-call coverage and respond to cardiac emergencies as needed
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures
• Ensure compliance with all medical regulations, protocols, and documentation standards

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or board eligibility in Cardiology
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Vermont (or ability to obtain licensure)
• Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in cardiology or a related field
• Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective patient and team interaction
• Ability to work independently and manage a variable caseload in a contract role
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is preferred
• Level IV Trauma Center

Schedule: 3-5 days per week

No call required

Setting: Outpatient

Daily Volume: 16 patients

Patient Population: Adults

Procedures Required: Echocardiography and electrocardiograms 

Support Staff: APRNs

EMR: Cerner

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

ACLS, BLS, CPR, CSR, and DEA required

Paid travel and lodging
