Locum CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist) Pediatric Anesthesiology

 This contract, on-site position offers a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality anesthesia care to pediatric patients in a dynamic clinical environment.

As a Locum CRNA, you will play a vital role in providing safe, compassionate anesthesia services for a range of pediatric surgical and procedural cases. Working on-site at our Charleston facility, you will collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and smooth perioperative experiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations for pediatric patients
• Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans
• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to pediatric patients
• Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures and adjust anesthesia as needed
• Manage airway and ventilation for patients of varying ages and sizes
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative team members
• Provide post-anesthesia care and support in recovery areas
• Document anesthesia records accurately and in a timely manner
• Respond promptly to emergencies and complications during anesthesia
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding anesthesia procedures and expectations
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuing education requirements

Requirements

• Associate experience level in nurse anesthesia practice
• Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Active and unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license
• Specialized training or experience in pediatric anesthesiology
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and patient monitoring
• Ability to manage pediatric patients, including neonates and adolescents
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site clinical setting
• Commitment to patient safety and quality care standards
• Willingness to work a contract schedule as required by the facility
• Level I Trauma

Schedule: 13-hour shifts, 3 days per week

No call requirement

Daily Census: 3-5 cases

Case Types: GI, ophthalmology, plastics, and dental

Medically-directed caseload

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
