Job Summary
We are seeking a Line Cook to join the team at our busy restaurant. In this position, you will be responsible for using high-quality ingredients to prepare delicious meals for our customers. The ideal candidate is experienced, reliable, and committed to creating an excellent experience for patrons. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up the kitchen with necessary tools and equipment
- Prepare food and present it in an appealing manner
- Supervise and delegate tasks to other team members
- Work with other team members to complete nightly prep lists
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and restock when necessary
- Follow all food safety regulations
- Participate in daily kitchen opening and closing procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned by the head chef or management
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
- ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification
- Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
- Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds
Grendel's Den opened in 1971 by Herbert and Sue Kuelzer. Their daughter Kari started running the restaurant in 2003. Grendel's is known as a "dyed-in-the-wool Harvard Square place" and is known to the Cambridge and Harvard University community as a comfortable, down-to-earth place to have food and drinks at fabulous prices. Grendel's Den prides itself on an hand-picked selection of imported and domestic beers from breweries large and small. You will find drinkable, flavorful local gems, far-flung discoveries, and customer favorites from classics like Guinness to 'cheap' stuff like 'Gansett. We take our food as seriously as we do our beer and make all of our menu items fresh from Grendel's own recipes. We are located in a basement hideaway on the cobbled walkways of Winthrop Street.
