The Lightspeed Lab® Engineering Co-op will support Resonetics’ rapid-prototyping and process-development work for innovative MedTech customers. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys solving technical challenges quickly, working directly with engineers and technicians, and seeing ideas become precision components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

Assist with rapid-prototyping and process-development activities for medical-device components and complex subassemblies.

Support engineering trials, prototype builds, test plans, data collection, and technical reports.

Help document process parameters, setup requirements, work instructions, and lessons learned for customer programs.

Work with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot prototype and process issues, supporting quick iteration and practical solutions.

Participate in design and manufacturing reviews, helping evaluate manufacturability and scalability from prototype through production transfer.

Collaborate with specialists across Resonetics’ engineering and manufacturing network to deliver responsive support for customer programs.

Required Qualifications

Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Materials, or a related Engineering discipline.

Genuine interest in product development, rapid prototyping, and advanced manufacturing.

Strong hands-on problem-solving ability, curiosity, and comfort working in a dynamic environment.

Ability to communicate clearly, document work accurately, and collaborate across technical teams.
Compensation
The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated range is $23.00 to $28.00.

Resonetics is a medical device contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that partners with engineering and R&D teams, from early-stage startups to the world's leading medical device companies, to move precision components from prototype to production-scale manufacturing. With over 35 years of experience in medical device micro-manufacturing, we deliver the speed, innovation, and scale that device developers need to solve complex manufacturing challenges and accelerate time to market.
Core capabilities span laser processing, nitinol manufacturing, metal fabrication, and raw material supply. Our laser platform enables end-to-end laser processing across cutting, drilling, welding, and ablation at tolerances conventional machining cannot achieve. Nitinol processing extends from raw material through shape setting, electropolishing, and finished component assembly. Raw material capabilities include nitinol wire, sheet, and tubing, along with stainless steel thin-wall tube fabrication. Metal fabrication capabilities span centerless grinding, swiss machining, and photochemical machining.
As a vertically integrated CDMO, Resonetics supports programs across neurovascular, electrophysiology, ophthalmology, neuromodulation, structural heart, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery applications, providing a single manufacturing partner from early development through high-volume production.
The Lightspeed Development Lab is built to compress prototype-to-production timelines, enabling faster design iteration and manufacturing-ready submissions.
With 20 manufacturing facilities across the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Israel, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, Resonetics operates as an integrated global network built to support complex supply chains and scale with customer demand.
