Rate of pay: $15.00 – $16.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure member & guest safety by remaining vigilant at all times.
- Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established emergency action plans and expectations within the written Aquatic Safety Plan.
- Check pool chemicals at regular intervals throughout your shift and document
- Swim test, mark and not all green and yellow wristband swimmers 14 years old and younger
- Follow aquatic program schedule and put in, take out or move lane lines accordingly
- Be familiar with the location of the other departments in the branch and be prepared to respond to incidents and accidents in these areas
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Must have current Ellis & Associates CARMP license (Free training available if not already certified)
- A minimum of 20/25 or 20/25 corrected vision and free from permanent abnormalities of either eye. If required, wearing corrective lenses as needed will be required to assure a minimum of 20/25 vision while on duty as a lifeguard.

YMCA Healthy Living Prevention Programs
Diabetes Prevention Program
A program for those who have prediabetes or are at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The Program is a year-long program, developed in conjunction with Indiana University and recognized by CDC, consists of 16-1 hour-sessions, followed by 6-8 monthly meetings. The classroom-based program is proven that by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a small amount of weight, a person with pre-diabetes who is overweight can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes .

Healthy Lifestyles Behavior Change Program
The program, developed with Stanford University, is a behavior change program where participants focus on one health goal for the duration of the program. In a classroom setting, participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 22 one-hour sessions. Improved self-confidence and achievement in accomplishing short- and long-term health goals are typical outcomes of the program.
