Join our team at the Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic environment for members, patients, and guests. This position plays a key role in maintaining pool safety, supporting aquatic programming, and delivering exceptional customer service. Teamwork, vigilance, and a commitment to member safety are essential as we provide high-quality services to our community.
 
How you'll contribute  
A Lifeguard/Swim Instructor who excels in this role:

• Supervises activities in the pool area to prevent accidents and provide assistance to patrons.
• Maintains order by enforcing pool rules and regulations.
• Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning or other unsafe situations and provides first aid and emergency care as needed.
• Tests water chemistry and helps maintain the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas.
• Provides swim instruction and teaches aquatic safety techniques when assigned.
• Promotes a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all participants and guests.

What we're looking for  
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum age of 16 years for Lifeguard positions.
• American Red Cross CPR-AED for Lifeguards certification within 7 days of hire (Lifeguard positions).
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification within 7 days of hire (Lifeguard positions).
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for Swim Instructor positions.
• Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor certification required within one month of hire (Swim Instructor positions).
• Must be proficient in all swimming skills covered in Swim Instructor training.
• Ability to maintain a high level of physical fitness.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 150 pounds.
• Demonstrated vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Ability to demonstrate Front Crawl (Freestyle), Breaststroke, and other skills covered in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course.
