Job Details: Job Location: Foundation YMCA - Wilson, NC, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $10.70 - $16.05Hourly, POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in and around the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role supports the YMCA’s commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Monitor pool activities and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
Administer first aid, CPR, or AED as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of pool deck and surrounding areas.
Inspect and ensure proper functioning of safety equipment.
Participate in regular in-service training and emergency drills.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly.
Assist with pool opening and closing procedures.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum age of 16 years.
Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Strong observational and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
Prior lifeguarding experience preferred but not required.
Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.

Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
Ability to lift up to 25lbs..
Ability to speak and write concisely and effectively communicate needs.
Ability to maintain concentration and focus for long periods of time.
