Life Enrichment Assistant

The Life Enrichment Assistant (LEA) plays a vital role in creating meaningful experiences that support the whole-person well-being of residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This position partners with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to plan, implement, and support programs that foster purpose, connection, engagement, and joy in daily living.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resident Experience & Purposeful Living:

• Support the implementation of a robust life enrichment program that promotes physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, and recreational well-being.
• Follow and support the monthly activity calendar as developed by the LEC.
• Encourage resident participation through personal invitations, relationship-building, and individualized engagement.
• Create opportunities for residents to experience purpose, connection, and joy.
• Foster an environment where residents feel welcomed and supported regardless of abilities or participation level.
• Recognize and respect residents' preferences, interests, cultural backgrounds, life experiences, and personal choices.
• Support celebrating resident birthdays, holidays, milestones, and special occasions.
• Reinforce that meaningful engagement is an essential component of overall wellness and quality of life.

Whole-Person Engagement & Individualized Support:

• Assist with resident assessments related to interests, preferences, strengths, and goals.
• Support one-to-one engagement programs for residents who may not regularly participate in group activities.
• Help connect residents to programs and experiences that reflect their interests and abilities.
• Assist new residents in becoming familiar with activities, community life, & fellow residents.
• Observe resident participation, mood, and engagement, and communicate relevant observations to the Life Enrichment Coordinator and care team.
• Adapt activities to promote successful participation and positive experiences.

Activities, Events & Community Involvement:

• Facilitate and participate in group activities, outings, educational programs, social opportunities, fitness programs, and special events.
• Assist in organizing and implementing community celebrations and themed events.
• Support outings that encourage socialization, learning, and community connection.
• Help maintain activity supplies, preparation materials, and program resources.
• Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and organization of activity spaces.
• Assist residents during programs and outings to ensure safety, comfort, and engagement.

Family, Volunteer & Community Partnerships:

• Promote meaningful connections between residents, families, schools, volunteer organizations, faith communities, and local community groups.
• Support the development and coordination of volunteer opportunities alongside the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
• Help create opportunities for intergenerational engagement and community involvement.
• Encourage family participation in resident programs and special events.
• Foster relationships that strengthen community connections and enrich residents' lives.

Transportation & Community Support:

• Assist with transportation needs for community outings and special events as assigned.
• Safely operate community vehicles for resident outings and scenic drives.
• Ensure residents are supported during transportation activities with professionalism & care.
• Help coordinate logistics for events and outings to ensure positive resident experiences.

Team Collaboration & Culture Building:

• Promote and support a positive work environment focused on teamwork.
• Partner with nursing, culinary, housekeeping, maintenance, and leadership teams to support the overall resident experience.
• Assist with orienting new team members regarding life enrichment programs.
• Support a culture where every team member recognizes their role in creating meaningful resident experiences.
• Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility in supporting community life.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Compassionate spirit, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for working with older adults.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in activities, recreation, education, hospitality, customer service, senior living, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to lead group activities and engage individuals with varying interests and abilities.
• Creative, energetic, and adaptable approach to programming and resident engagement.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must submit to a TB test in accordance with state regulations.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to assist with resident outings, transportation, event setup, and activity facilitation.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and actively participate in programs throughout the workday.
