Third Street Family Health Services is seeking a Licensed Optician to support our Vision Services program at our Malabar location. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Optician who values flexible scheduling and wants to make a difference by providing accessible vision services in a community health setting.
We are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent schedule during our normal operational hours. You’ll have flexibility in determining your regular schedule based on your availability and the needs of the program.
What You'll Do
- Fit and dispense prescription eyewear in accordance with Ohio requirements and professional standards.
- Assist patients with frame selection and eyewear needs.
- Take and verify measurements necessary for proper eyewear fitting.
- Review prescriptions and ensure eyewear is dispensed accurately.
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to eyewear as appropriate.
- Educate patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of their eyewear.
- Maintain accurate patient and dispensing records.
- Communicate effectively with patients and members of the Vision Services team.
- Follow all applicable organizational, state, and regulatory requirements.
- Support Third Street’s mission of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to the communities we serve.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Current, active Ohio Optician license required.
- Previous experience fitting and dispensing prescription eyewear preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the healthcare team.
- Reliable and professional with a patient-centered approach.

We receive federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) through Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.
We currently provide Primary Care, Dental, OB/GYN, Pediatric, Substance Use Treatment, Behavioral Health Services, and Outreach Community Health Resources across our locations. The Board of Trustees is the governing body and comprises residents from Ashland, Crawford, and Richland County who have a diverse background and a shared interest in assisting people in need of affordable health care. Our Board are patients of Third Street and serve on the Board as volunteers
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) implements policies formulated and approved by the Board and is responsible to the Board. The CEO is responsible for overall supervision of staff and program development as well as service coordination. Directors/supervisors are responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for operation of their respective areas. Each staff member is responsible to his/her direct supervisor.
