Licensed Counselor- Free Will Baptist Children's Home- Middlesex







This position is employed by Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center and provided on-site at Free Will Baptist Children's Home through a clinical partnership between the two organizations. Anuvia is seeking a dedicated Licensed Counselor to provide individual, group, and family counseling for youth in residential care at the Home, addressing trauma, behavioral, and (where present) co-occurring substance use needs. You will be a core member of an interdisciplinary team committed to person-centered, recovery-oriented care.

This part-time role offers meaningful clinical work with a schedule built around the needs of the Home's residents. There is potential for this position to grow into a full-time role over time — either through additional on-site hours as the Home's clinical needs grow, or through a hybrid schedule combining on-site counseling with telehealth service delivery (approximately 50% on-site / 50% telehealth).



Clinical Services

• Provide individual counseling tailored to each child's age, history, and presenting need — e.g., trauma and attachment work (Trauma-Focused CBT, attachment-based approaches) at entry; emotional and behavioral regulation (CBT-based skills coaching, play therapy for younger children); identity, family, and peer issues (motivational interviewing, family-systems-informed work); and independent-living/discharge readiness for older youth (solution-focused therapy)
• Lead or clinically co-facilitate age-appropriate therapeutic groups — for example, DBT skills, anger management, life-skills/discharge-planning, and art or music therapy for adolescents; art, music, movement, and play-based social-skills groups for younger children — documenting each session's clinical goals, interventions, and client response
• Provide family counseling, including family reunification and reintegration preparation, and facilitate family involvement in treatment
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including psychosocial assessments; for clients with identified substance use needs, conduct ASAM multidimensional assessments and develop ASAM Level of Care recommendations as appropriate to licensure
• For clients with identified substance use needs, monitor signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal and coordinate appropriate interventions
• Provide crisis intervention, post-incident processing, and safety planning, coordinating with the treatment team following any crisis or hospitalization
• Deliver telehealth counseling sessions in compliance with state telehealth regulations and platform security standards, upon transition to a full-time or hybrid schedule

Treatment Planning & Care Coordination

• Develop, implement, and update individualized, person-centered treatment and service plans prior to or on the date of service
• Monitor client progress through ongoing assessment and reassessment; revise treatment plans as clinically indicated
• Manage assigned client caseload from admission through discharge, including transitions, family reunification, and aftercare/discharge planning
• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and case coordination with the Home's residential staff, school, DSS, and court contacts as needed
• Coordinate linkage to medically necessary services including MAT, psychiatric medication management, psychological, medical, and community-based resources
• Submit service authorizations and ensure continuity of care across providers and systems
• Provide referrals and coordination for SUD treatment and recovery resources

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the EHR per state, agency, and federal requirements
• Complete required reporting, including incident reports per established guidelines, and NC TOPPS/GPRA reporting for clients receiving substance use treatment services
• Participate in QA/QI activities including peer review and timely resolution of out-of-compliance items

Team & Professional Development

• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case staffing, clinical supervision, and coordination with the Clinical Director, medical providers, and Free Will Baptist Children's Home staff
• Facilitate training and supervision for interns and/or trainees as assigned
• Administer medications and conduct UDS screenings within scope of training and licensure
