Resident Salon Services (RSS) is seeking a talented and compassionate Licensed Cosmetologist to provide personalized hair and nail services to senior residents in a welcoming residential community on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

This is more than a salon position. It’s an opportunity to use your professional skills while building meaningful relationships and helping residents look and feel their best.

What You’ll Do

• Provide professional hair consultations, haircuts, shampoo and styling services, color, perms, and other appropriate hair services.

• Facial waxing and tweezing.

• Provide manicures, pedicures, nail shaping, filing, and polishing.

• Work confidently with mature hair, including perms, roller sets, teasing, and classic styling techniques.

• Provide gentle, patient service while considering each resident’s comfort, mobility, and individual needs.

• Recommend appropriate hair and nail care based on each resident’s preferences and needs.

• Build positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and community staff.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary salon environment.

• Properly clean, sanitize, and store implements and equipment.

• Follow RSS policies, sanitation procedures, and applicable New York State requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Current New York Cosmetology License – required

• Minimum 3 years of licensed cosmetology experience

• Must be comfortable providing both hair and nail services.

• Strong haircutting, styling, and chemical-service skills.

• Ability to provide professional manicures and pedicures.

• Experience working with senior clientele is preferred but not required.

• Comfortable working with mature hair, and nails.

• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

• Dependable, professional, patient, and compassionate.

• Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.

Sign-On Bonus

Eligible new hires may receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus, paid in installments based on continued employment and good standing:

• $250 after successful completion of 90 days

• $250 after 6 months of employment

• $500 after 1 year of employment

The first installment also requires completion of required CARES certification, if applicable, adherence to RSS paperwork procedures, and effective use of RSS systems. Employees must remain in good standing and meet RSS policies and performance expectations to receive subsequent installments.

RSS reserves the right to withhold unpaid bonus installments if an employee voluntarily resigns or is not in good standing before the applicable payment date.
