As a Legal Intake Specialist, you’ll be the first point of contact for individuals seeking guidance about Social Security Disability benefits.
You’ll conduct thoughtful intake conversations, gather sensitive personal and medical information, and help prospective clients understand their potential options.
The role combines client service, case screening, administrative coordination, and accurate data management.
You’ll work closely with clients, attorneys, and internal teams to ensure prospective cases are handled efficiently and professionally.
Empathy, discretion, and clear communication will be essential when supporting individuals navigating potentially challenging circumstances.
You’ll also help maintain accurate case records, coordinate consultations, and manage a steady flow of calls and online inquiries.

Accountabilities:

• Serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for prospective clients seeking information about Social Security Disability benefits.

• Conduct detailed intake interviews to collect accurate medical, employment, personal, and case-related information.

• Screen prospective cases against applicable Social Security Disability eligibility guidelines.

• Explain the disability benefits application and appeals process clearly, accurately, and compassionately.

• Answer incoming calls and respond to online inquiries while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and service.

• Schedule consultations and conduct appropriate follow-up with prospective clients throughout the intake process.

• Enter, update, and maintain accurate client information in CRM or case management systems.

• Complete administrative tasks related to client onboarding and case intake.

• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive personal, medical, and legal information, following HIPAA requirements and applicable policies.

• Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and internal team members to support a smooth intake and onboarding process.

• Manage a high volume of inquiries while remaining organized, attentive, and composed.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure prospective clients receive timely and consistent support.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

• Previous experience in a law firm, legal intake environment, client services, or call center is preferred.

• Knowledge of Social Security Disability programs, including SSDI and SSI, is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and compassionately.

• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills, particularly when interacting with individuals sharing sensitive or personal information.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and data.

• Ability to handle high call volumes and multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and service quality.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with attorneys and internal teams.

• Proficiency with computers, data entry, CRM platforms, or case management systems.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements and organizational policies.

• Fluency in English and Spanish.

• Availability to work 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST/EDT.
