Job DetailsJob Location: NSC-Charlotte Area Command - Charlotte, NC 28217Job Category: HousingSeeking a Full-time 2nd Shift Lead Resident Monitor to monitor the activity of residents on an assigned shift, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that the housing facility is maintained in a neat and proper order. Serves as an example of grace in the relationship with and encouragement of each Emergency Refuge resident.
Completes all necessary intake paperwork and accurately keypunches the information into the HMIS database system.
Ensures all rooms are in proper order before residents arrive; checks fire equipment to ensure it is in working order.
Distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items; secures and provides clients access to medications as required.
Monitors the activities of the residents, ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds of the entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on the assigned shift.
Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective action in accordance with established policies and procedures, in an effort to instruct and develop, and not in an effort to punish.
Opens and closes the house doors at designated hours of operation.
Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensures residents perform assigned house duties properly; ensures compliance with house rules. Addresses shortcomings to develop skill set, not to punish.
Conducts campus security checks as assigned, taking responsive action if required, and logging details of completing the same bullet point notes of pertinent activity.
Conducts breath alcohol checks on all residents entering the shelter facility and thoroughly inspects all property being brought into the facility to ensure compliance with house rules.
Answers telephone and responds to questions regarding the housing operations.
Wakes clients at the designated time, instructs them to collect their sheets, and ensures that all residents are out of the housing facility by that time.
Issues meal tickets for residents of the emergency shelter.
Conducts oneself as a representative of The Salvation Army in the tone used, patience extended, and encouragement offered to those we serve.
Other Responsibilities:
Collects and washes all dirty towels and sheets.
Cleans, sweeps, and mops the lobby, hall, and office areas; empties trash cans and replaces trash liners. Performs other related work as required

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Required:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year of experience performing security or social service work preferred, or
any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Licenses and Certifications:
CPR and First Aid Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of basic record-keeping practices and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients to control, lead, and motivate behavior. Ability to work with the public, encompassing all types of behaviors.
Ability to extend grace in the face of rebellion without becoming emotionally upset.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while staying within established policy and procedural boundaries.
Mental and Physical Abilities:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
