Lead Project Manager - Financial System Implementation

Overview

BerryDunn is seeking a Lead Project Manager to join our State Government Practice Group within our Consulting Team. This contingent position is intended to support a potential engagement with a state housing finance agency. The selected candidate would serve as the client-side project lead and day-to-day representative for a complex enterprise software implementation supporting accounting, single-family programs, multifamily programs, mortgage servicing, data migration, testing, training, and organizational adoption. The Lead Project Manager would coordinate the client, software vendor, subcontractors, and other project participants while maintaining clear governance, delivery controls, executive reporting, and accountability for project outcomes. 

Travel Expectations: Up to 50% travel to client sites will be required to support this engagement and future client projects. Travel requirements will vary based on client needs, project phase, and BerryDunn's project portfolio. Candidates located, or willing to relocate to, within commuting distance of the client's office Helena, MT is a value-add. 

You Will

As a Lead Project Manager, you will:

• Serve as the client’s day-to-day project representative and primary point of coordination with software vendors, third parties, and internal stakeholders. 
• Develop, maintain, and execute an integrated project management plan, schedule, milestones, resource plan, governance structure, and reporting cadence. 
• Lead project governance and support steering committee, working team, decision, escalation, and change control processes. 
• Maintain project risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, decisions, actions, and change requests, and provide clear recommendations for resolution. 
• Prepare concise executive-level status reports that communicate project health, schedule variance, key risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and corrective actions. 
• Coordinate business process review, requirements validation, system configuration, data migration, testing, training, cutover, go-live, and stabilization activities across the project team. 
• Oversee vendor performance and review vendor plans, deliverables, schedules, risks, and quality against approved requirements and contractual expectations. 
• Facilitate timely decision-making and prepare recommendations for client approval of deliverables, changes, and key project decisions. 
• Lead integrated readiness and cutover planning, including entry and exit criteria, dependency management, issue escalation, stakeholder communications, and go-live recommendations. 
• Oversee post-go-live stabilization, including issue resolution, system performance, user adoption, support transition, and continuous improvement recommendations. 
• Produce and quality-review client-facing project deliverables, meeting materials, status reports, decision documents, and escalation communications. 
• Partner with BerryDunn colleagues across project management, data, technical, business process, testing, organizational change management, training, and housing finance disciplines. 
• Support business development activities for state government project, program, and enterprise system implementation opportunities, including proposal development and client presentations. 

As an SGPG team member, you will:

• In partnership with our internal team, lead and support business development and opportunity management activities to identify new opportunities, make go/no go decisions, and respond to state government opportunities related to ERP systems.
• Assist in the career development of our team to deepen team capabilities and services related to state government ERP system projects.
• Develop appropriate relationships with ERP system SIs and solution providers in the state government market.
• Develop training opportunities for our team related to major SI/solution vendors in the state government market.
• Collaborate with other firm practice groups and practices that can bring ERP system knowledge.
• Attend national conference(s) representing BerryDunn in the state government ERP system market.
• Participate in marketing and business development activities, including writing blog posts and leading and participating in prospective client business development meetings.

You Have

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• At least five years of experience leading complex enterprise software implementation, modernization, or systems integration projects. 
• Demonstrated experience working with/in Housing Finance Agencies.
• Experience serving in a client-side, owner-side, project management office, program management, or independent oversight role. 
• Strong knowledge of project governance, integrated planning, schedule management, change control, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, decision management, and executive reporting. 
• Experience coordinating business process review, requirements validation, data migration, system integration, testing, user acceptance testing, training, deployment readiness, cutover, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization. 
• Ability to assess vendor performance, identify delivery variances, and communicate practical corrective actions in a clear and constructive manner. 
• Ability to lead meetings, facilitate decisions, manage competing priorities, and maintain progress across multiple workstreams. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing client-facing status reports, governance materials, decision documents, and executive communications. 
• Demonstrated critical thinking, organization, problem-solving, self-management, and relationship-building skills. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and project planning, collaboration, reporting, and presentation tools. 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience 

• PMI Project Management Professional certification (PMP). 
• Demonstrated experience working with/in a housing finance agency, department of housing, public housing authority, mortgage or loan servicing organization, or comparable public-sector financial program. 
• Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise systems that support accounting, lending, loan servicing, single-family programs, multifamily programs, affordable housing, grants, compliance, or financial reporting. 
• Demonstrated experience overseeing data migration, data governance, system integration, reconciliation, testing, and regulatory or internal-control requirements. 
• Demonstrated experience developing or reviewing project artifacts for regulated environments, including financial controls, data security, auditability, and compliance documentation. 

Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $90,000–$135,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
