Lead Cloud Solutions Architect

The Lead Cloud Solutions Architect serves as a senior, client-facing technology leader, helping business stakeholders turn strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions.
The role spans cloud, applications, infrastructure, security, and broader enterprise technology initiatives from discovery through operational transition.
You will lead complex solution engagements, shape implementation roadmaps, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.
Working across business, technical, vendor, and delivery teams, you will guide architecture decisions and help manage delivery risks.
The position offers significant influence over cloud adoption, modernization, technology standards, and solution reuse across the organization.
You will also provide technical leadership and mentoring while serving as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

• Serve as a primary technical advisor and trusted partner to business stakeholders, identifying opportunities to use technology to achieve strategic objectives.
• Lead client engagement activities, including solution discovery, requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops, and business case development.
• Translate business requirements and strategic priorities into practical, scalable, secure, and supportable technology solutions.
• Lead complex solution engagements throughout the full lifecycle, from initial concept and implementation through operational transition, upgrades, support planning, and technology lifecycle management.
• Develop solution strategies, implementation roadmaps, architecture recommendations, and delivery plans for cloud, application, and technology initiatives.
• Collaborate with business leaders, project teams, vendors, architects, engineers, and delivery resources to drive successful implementation and adoption.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, mentoring, and direction to Solution Architects, Engineers, and delivery teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Evaluate technology options based on business value, functionality, cost, risk, security, operational requirements, and long-term supportability.
• Identify project risks, dependencies, technical challenges, and delivery concerns while developing effective mitigation strategies.
• Lead vendor evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, technology assessments, and solution selection activities.
• Partner with the Cloud Center of Excellence to ensure solutions leverage approved cloud services, enterprise capabilities, architecture standards, and established best practices.
• Drive accountability for solution delivery outcomes, stakeholder satisfaction, successful adoption, and sustainable operational support.
• Support portfolio planning, demand management, and prioritization to align technology delivery with business priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, increase solution reuse, accelerate implementation, and strengthen architecture and delivery practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of related experience; equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience in solution architecture, consulting, technical leadership, or customer-facing technology roles involving the design, implementation, and delivery of enterprise technology solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional technology initiatives from discovery through implementation, including solution strategies, roadmaps, and recommendations tied to measurable business outcomes.
• Strong experience partnering with business leaders and stakeholders to gather requirements, translate strategic objectives into technology solutions, and develop implementation-ready designs.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, cloud architecture, application modernization, identity services, networking, and security concepts.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture principles.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, including DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, private connectivity, and hybrid networking architectures.
• Experience designing solutions involving relational and non-relational databases, data integrations, and application data architectures.
• Strong experience with Linux-based operating systems, application platforms, and enterprise workloads.
• Experience designing and integrating enterprise applications, SaaS platforms, APIs, and business systems.
• Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and influence decisions across organizational levels.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-development capabilities, including the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Strong business acumen, including experience assessing solution costs, licensing models, operational support requirements, security considerations, and technology investments.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, planning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholder expectations in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to identify risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Ability to drive organizational adoption of technology solutions, architecture standards, and delivery best practices.
• Self-motivated and outcome-focused, with the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across diverse teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging cloud, application, architecture, and technology trends.
• Preferred experience includes Azure and hybrid-cloud environments, enterprise SaaS/COTS applications, cloud migration, modernization, digital transformation, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, enterprise integration, APIs, identity solutions, and data services.
• Experience with vendor coordination, proof-of-concept engagements, and technology assessments is preferred.
• Experience within Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) organizations is a plus, as is familiarity with engineering, GIS, modeling, simulation, high-performance computing, or scientific workloads.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent are preferred.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required depending on project demands, although the source posting indicates no travel is required for the position.
