JOB PURPOSE:

The Green Energy Institute at Lewis & Clark Law School (GEI) is accepting law clerk applications from law students who are passionate about clean energy and climate protection. GEI’s work supports the equitable transition to a 100% decarbonized energy system by developing and recommending reforms to regional, state and local energy policy. This paid opportunity is open to all current law students and is available as a for-credit externship or an internship. Start and stop dates are flexible. Law clerks working in exchange for law school credit must comply with all applicable externship requirements. Candidates have the option of working from home or in a GEI office located on the Lewis & Clark Law School campus, but must commit to at least one day a week in person on campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist GEI staff with substantive projects, including research and analysis of energy laws and policies;

• Draft memoranda and contribute to policy reports and other legal and policy analyses;

• Research and write blog entries on energy or climate policy issues;

• Participate in weekly staff meetings and work collaboratively with GEI staff.

SCHEDULE:

Please indicate in your cover letter what your proposed schedule will be, including the number of hours per week you intend to work. We are interested in hiring several law clerks for the spring, several for the summer, and several for the fall.

RATE OF PAY:

• $22.00 per hour

Eligibility to Work
