Laboratory Technician I

Job Details: Job Location: SLC - Millcreek , UT, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Primary Purpose: 

To provide assistance with sample preparation and support to the laboratory staff and to follow all needed quality control documentation and procedures to accomplish these goals.  To be able to work independently in these areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

Learns how to document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
May perform basic laboratory testing
Performs routine chemical procedures including sample preparation.
Sample Homogenization
Reagent Preparation o Solution Preparation
Learns how to use laboratory equipment appropriate for assigned tasks.
Performs pipette calibrations in accordance with SOP and industry standards
Attends and participates in project and laboratory staff meetings.
Learns to plan assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively schedule multiple assignments.
Assists with maintaining supplies, including the ordering and organization of biomatrices and consumables
Contributes to a cohesive team environment.  Plans individual workload in coordination with team members and provides support as needed.
Supports process improvement initiatives.
Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.     
Performs routine washing and disinfecting of laboratory glassware, equipment, and worktables 
Assists with the duties of laboratory safety and compliance
May assist with all aspects of the sample storage and disposition
Modifies established procedures within specified guidelines
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Learns to interact with internal teams.

Working Conditions:

May work with potentially hazardous substances.

Mandatory immunizations and screening as required.

Overtime and weekend work as required.

Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and at standing bench top.

Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
