Job Description
Overview:
We are looking for a dependable part-time laboratory safety monitor to be present during scheduled chemical processing sessions. The monitor does not perform any chemistry but may assist with characterization of samples.
Schedule: Mondays 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (required); occasional Thursdays 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Location: CEI Shared Research Facility
Level: No advanced degree required; basic lab familiarity preferred
Start: Immediate
Key Responsibilities:

Be present in the lab for the duration of scheduled sessions

Complete a brief institutional safety training before the first session

Know the location of emergency supplies and basic emergency response steps

Sign the session attendance log
Requirements:

Reliable and punctual

Comfortable in a laboratory environment

Able to complete required safety training (provided and coordinated by the company)

No Experience Required Beyond Basic Lab Familiarity
Ideal Candidate:
A University of Washington student (graduate or undergraduate) already approved to work at WCET/CEI. The Monday block is a firm weekly requirement; Thursday sessions are occasional and scheduled with advance notice.
