Summary
The Lab Courier is responsible for the daily transport of blood and lab specimens between satellite offices and the main laboratory or hospital. Additionally, the role involves assisting the lab department with non-clinical tasks and retrieving medical records as needed.
Job Description
17.5 hours per week
From 3:30pm - 7pm
Purpose: Pick-up and deliver labs (blood, specimens, etc.) between WH offices and other facilities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Transport labs (blood, specimens, etc.) from satellite offices to main lab for processing daily.
- Deliver labs (blood, specimens, etc.) from Wilmington Health to the hospital at 2131 S 17th Street Wilmington NC 28401 as needed daily.
Other Duties:
- Assist Lab department in any non-clinical area as needed or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Only by understanding each of these aspects at work, was the organization able to pragmatically and intelligently design a future approach to the provision of healthcare.
Additionally, Wilmington Health leadership began to put greater focus on creating a culture of change within the organization, understanding that this is the most powerful tool in any transformative process. Included were new and improved support systems for staff and providers and development of an inspirational approach to leading the entire team to provide patient-centered healthcare.
July 2012, Wilmington Health partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina to form an ACO agreement. This was the first insurer-provider Accountable Care Organization in the region.
