Job Details: Job Location: Kids Club Boone County - Boone, IA, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $15.00Hourly, Travel Percentage: Up to 50% , Job Shift: Any, Job Category: Kids Club Before/After-School Programs, YSS is looking for someone dependable, flexible, and ready to jump in when needed! As a Kids Club Substitute, you’ll help provide reliable coverage at our Kids Club locations throughout Boone County—bringing patience, positivity, and plenty of fun along the way. 

In this role, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and fun environment for elementary-age children before school, after school, and on no-school days. For many families, Kids Club is more than childcare—it's a place where children can learn, explore, build friendships, and feel supported. 

Whether you're leading a game, helping with homework, serving a healthy snack, or simply being a positive role model, you'll play an important part in helping kids grow in confidence, skills, and connection.

What You'll Do...

Welcome kids as they arrive and help set the tone for a great day.
Lead games, activities, and adventures that spark curiosity and creativity.
Help with homework and cheer on academic wins—big and small.
Encourage friendships, teamwork, and positive social skills.
Create moments that help kids feel seen, supported, and successful.
Keep things running smoothly while balancing fun, safety, and structure.
Serve snacks, share laughs, and celebrate everyday achievements.
Partner with families and school staff to support each child's growth.
Leave each day knowing you've made a difference in a child's life.

Location:

This position provides flexible substitute coverage across our Boone County Kids Club locations—Boone Elementary, Ledges Elementary, Ogden Elementary, and United Elementary. You may be called to provide coverage at any of these schools based on program needs.

Schedule:

Reliable availability is essential. This is a flexible, on-call position designed to provide coverage when regular Kids Club staff are unavailable. Substitute staff should be dependable, responsive, and willing to step in when coverage is needed. It is expected that staff:

Maintain availability during Kids Club hours of operation.
Provide advance notice of dates they will not be available.
Maintain consistent communication with Kids Club leadership and respond promptly to requests for coverage.
Accept at least 75% of shifts offered to them.
Understand that the number and timing of available substitute shifts will vary based on program needs.

What You Absolutely Need:

At least 16 years old.
Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within three months of hire.
Flexible schedule and availability to provide coverage as needed.
Dependable, responsive, and willing to step in when substitute coverage is needed.
A genuine enthusiasm for working with children and helping them succeed.
