Kennel Assistant

We are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and hardworking Kennel Assistant to join our small animal veterinary practice. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals and wants to be part of a supportive veterinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to dogs and cats

• Safely handle and move animals throughout the hospital

• Feed and provide fresh water according to patient instructions

• Walk dogs and provide appropriate exercise and bathroom breaks

• Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, cages, and other patient areas

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital environment

• Assist with bathing and basic grooming as needed

• Monitor animals for changes in behavior, appetite, or overall condition and report concerns to the veterinary team

• Assist veterinary assistants, technicians, and doctors with general hospital duties as needed

• Properly dispose of waste and maintain appropriate sanitation protocols

• Stock supplies and help keep treatment and kennel areas organized

• Follow all animal-handling and safety procedures

• Perform other duties as needed to support the veterinary team

Qualifications

• Previous animal care, kennel, boarding, shelter, or veterinary experience is a plus but not required

• Comfortable working with dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments

• Able to safely handle animals and follow instructions

• Reliable and punctual

• Hardworking and willing to perform cleaning and physical tasks throughout the day

• Able to work independently as well as part of a team

• Compassionate and patient with animals

• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
