ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking experienced News Writer/Producers to join one of the nation's top local news teams on an as-needed basis.

We're looking for creative storytellers who can write accurate and compelling broadcast scripts, produce dynamic newscasts, thrive in breaking news, and make smart editorial decisions under pressure. The ideal candidate can manage multiple elements of a show, from story selection and rundown building to editing video, creating graphics, and timing.

Responsibilities

·         Write scripts and produce newscasts and news segments

·         Build engaging rundowns and shape editorial content

·         Edit video and booth live newscasts

·         Collaborate with producers, reporters, editors, directors, and assignment desk teams

·         Cover breaking news with urgency, accuracy, and creativity

Basic Qualifications

·         2+ years of television news writing and/or news producing experience

·         Strong broadcast writing skills and editorial judgment

·         Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

·         Flexibility to work overnights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and breaking news coverage

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience line producing live newscasts

·         Knowledge of Dalet, non-linear editing, Ross graphics, and touchscreen technology

·         Major-market newsroom experience preferred

Education

·         Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

This position is covered under the NABET-CWA ABC Master Agreement. The pay range for this role in Glendale, California is $25.50 to $38.50 per hour.
