About The Arc Butte County: The Arc of Butte County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Established in 1962, we are committed to promoting the inclusion, empowerment, and independence of people with IDD. Scheduling Note: Hours are variable and based on client needs, job assignments, and employee availability. Schedules may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends. While efforts are made to accommodate employee availability whenever possible, flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the individuals we support.

About the position: As a Job Coach, you are a dedicated and compassionate  professional committed to empowering individuals with IDD to achieve their employment goals and enhance their quality of life. Your supportive approach fosters independence and community involvement, aligning with The Arc's mission. You will work with clients from diverse backgrounds and with unique life experiences, providing respectful, inclusive support to help them succeed in the workplace. With strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for mentorship, you thrive in guiding clients through their employment journey.

What You'll Do:

• On-the-Job Support: Provide individualized assistance to clients in their workplace, promoting skill development, job retention, and workplace integration.

• Employer Collaboration: Work closely with employers to ensure job accommodations are met and that clients receive the necessary support to succeed.

• Skill Development: Assist clients in acquiring and refining job-related skills, fostering independence and confidence in their roles.

• Problem-Solving: Address and resolve workplace challenges, advocating for clients and facilitating effective solutions.

• Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document client progress, adjusting support strategies as needed to ensure sustained employment success.

• Other duties as assigned. 

What You'll Bring:

• Cultural Competence: Comfort and sensitivity in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring inclusive and respectful support for all.

• Tech-Savvy & Organized : Comfort using technology including email, Google Calendar, and learning various applications such as Slack, Asana, or similar platforms. Ability to manage schedules, track tasks, and complete documentation.

• Commitment to Empowerment: Dedication to supporting individuals with IDD in achieving their employment goals and enhancing their quality of life.

• Mentorship Skills: Experience in coaching or mentoring, with the ability to motivate and guide clients toward success.

• Problem-Solving Expertise: Strong analytical skills to identify challenges and implement effective solutions in the workplace.

• Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work collaboratively with clients, employers, and team members to achieve shared objectives.

• Educational Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Social Services, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.

Requirements:

• Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen, and driving record check

• Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, including no DUI convictions within the past five (5) years and no more than two (2) points on the driving record

• Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings

• Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

• May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, walking, or assisting individuals with mobility needs, if applicable

• Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments.
