Overview

A private family in the Pinecrest area is seeking a warm, dependable, and highly capable live-in caregiver/manny for a two-year-old boy with special needs (Wiliams Syndrome). The successful candidate will serve as the child’s primary daytime caregiver, provide consistent developmental and special-needs support, assist the family with day-to-day coordination and scheduling of the overnight and weekend relief care team, and coordinate agreed household and property requirements when childcare responsibilities permit. Willing to travel overseas and to Canada for 3-6 months at a time. Valid U.S. passport is required.

The schedule is one week on and one week off, live-in while on shift. Child safety, care, and development are always the priority. The primary caregiver is fully off duty whenever another assigned caregiver has formally assumed responsibility. Military applicants are encouraged to apply. Open to relocation.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY CHILDCARE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide nurturing, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care throughout all scheduled hours

• Manage daily routines, including feeding, bathing, diaper changes, dressing, naps, and transitions

• Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the child in accordance with family and provider guidance

• Plan safe and engaging activities, including walks, playtime, sensory activities, reading, and developmental exercises

• Support the child's emotional well-being, communication, mobility, independence, and overall development with patience and sensitivity

• Help build and maintain a social network of peers for the child (playdates, playgroups)

• Maintain a consistent daily record of meals, sleep, activities, notable observations, appointments, and care-plan information

• Provide parents with clear, timely updates regarding routines, progress, concerns, and recommended follow-up

CARE COORDINATION, APPOINTMENTS, AND SAFETY

• Follow the family's written care plan and implement recommendations provided by the child's medical and therapy professionals

• Accompany or transport the child to medical, therapeutic, educational, and other appointments as requested

• Coordinate professional handoffs with the parents, overnight caregivers, therapists, and relief caregiver

• Observe and report changes in the child's condition, behavior, comfort, sleep, appetite, or functioning

• Follow established medication-emergency-response and escalation protocols; perform only those tasks for which the caregiver is trained and legally authorized

• Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification and respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies

CARE-TEAM COORDINATION AND SCHEDULING

• Assist the parents with day-to-day coordination of the overnight caregivers and weekend relief caregiver

• Prepare, maintain, and communicate the recurring overnight and weekend relief schedule; confirm assignments and planned coverage in advance

• Track availability, approved leave, schedule changes, and shift swaps; identify potential coverage gaps early and notify the parents promptly

• Promote consistent handoffs, care-plan communication, documentation, and supply readiness across the caregiving team

• As requested, support caregiver onboarding and orientation and provide the parents with practical feedback regarding attendance, communication, performance, and coverage concerns

• Care-team coordination does not require the primary caregiver to work during protected off-duty periods or personally cover another caregiver's shift unless the additional work is separately agreed, recorded, and paid

CHILD-RELATED HOUSEHOLD RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keep the child's bedroom, play areas, feeding items, bottles, clothing, supplies, and equipment clean and organized

• Complete the child's laundry and replenish diapers, food, medications, and other care supplies before they run low

• Prepare and pack items needed for appointments, outings, travel, and daily activities

• Safely lift and carry the child, stroller, backpack, and customary childcare equipment as required

SECONDARY HOUSEHOLD AND PROPERTY COORDINATION

These responsibilities are secondary and are performed only when the child's immediate needs are fully addressed.

• Serve as a household point of contact for routine maintenance requests and track issues through completion

• Receive and organize mail, deliveries, and packages and notify the family of time-sensitive items

• Report safety, maintenance, or property concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Direct experience with Williams syndrome.

Requirements

• Ability to pass and enhanced security check.
• Demonstrated professional experience caring for toddlers and children with developmental, medical, or other special needs.
• A calm, patient, affectionate, and dependable approach to childcare, including the ability to maintain consistent routines.
• Current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain both before beginning employment.
• Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and confidence transporting a young child.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and maintain accurate written care notes.
• Physical ability to lift and carry a two-year-old child and manage customary childcare equipment and daily physical tasks.
• Strong organization, discretion, judgment, communication, and follow-through in a private-household environment.
• Authorization to work in the United States and willingness to complete background, driving-record, reference, and employment verification checks.

Salary and Benefits

• $110,000 - $130,000 per year
• 10 vacation days, 5 sick days
