About the Role

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, engineering, and operational support of Clarvida’s Microsoft endpoint management and patching platforms, with primary responsibility for Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft Intune, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and enterprise patch management. This role works collaboratively as part of a team of Systems Engineers and ensures Windows endpoints and servers remain securely configured, current, compliant, and reliably managed while supporting automation, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous improvement of endpoint and patching services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Endpoint Management and Software Distribution

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) and Microsoft Intune for enterprise endpoint management.
• Build, test, deploy, and support software packages, applications, configuration profiles, scripts, and endpoint policies across managed devices.
• Manage device collections, deployment rings, compliance policies, enrollment, inventory, and reporting for Windows endpoints.
• Troubleshoot SCCM, Intune, client health, deployment, enrollment, policy, and endpoint-management issues through resolution.

Patch Management and WSUS

• Administer and maintain WSUS and related patch-management infrastructure, including synchronization, classifications, approvals, targeting, and maintenance activities.
• Plan, test, schedule, deploy, and validate operating-system and Microsoft application patches across workstation and server environments.
• Coordinate patching cycles, maintenance windows, pilot groups, phased deployments, exceptions, and remediation activities to reduce operational risk.

Patch Compliance, Reporting and Remediation

• Monitor patch compliance, deployment status, endpoint health, and update failures; identify gaps and drive remediation to completion.
• Produce and maintain patch-management dashboards, compliance reports, deployment metrics, and exception tracking for operational and audit needs.
• Investigate failed installations, update conflicts, client communication issues, and other patching problems; develop repeatable remediation methods and automation where appropriate.

Operations, Documentation and Collaboration

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, deployment standards, patching runbooks, and troubleshooting guides for SCCM, Intune, WSUS, and patch-management processes.
• Coordinate with security, networking, service desk, infrastructure, application support, and other IT teams on vulnerability remediation, endpoint changes, maintenance activities, and production issues.
• Adhere to established Change Control procedures for endpoint, patching, configuration, and production changes, including required documentation, testing, approvals, implementation planning, validation, and closure.
• Participate in weekly Change Control meetings to review planned changes, assess risk and dependencies, communicate implementation details, and coordinate maintenance activities with affected IT teams.
• Participate in the Infrastructure Services Team on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for all of Clarvida's server environments, including incident response, troubleshooting, escalation, and service restoration as needed.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team of Systems Engineers, sharing technical knowledge, coordinating assignments, supporting peer troubleshooting, and contributing to team standards and operational goals.
• Support continuous improvement of endpoint-management and patching processes, tooling, automation, and service reliability.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and administering enterprise IT infrastructure or systems in a production environment.
• Experience administering Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft Intune, WSUS, and enterprise Windows patch-management processes.
• Experience using IT service management and ticketing systems; ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform is preferred.
• Prior experience in a US-based healthcare organization is preferred.
• Experience working effectively in a multi-national, multi-cultural, or distributed support environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong hands-on knowledge of SCCM/MECM, Intune, WSUS, Windows endpoint management, software distribution, and patch deployment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for endpoint-management clients, deployments, policy application, update failures, and patch-compliance issues.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell, vulnerability remediation, IT service management, and formal Change Control practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team of Systems Engineers and with remote and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage recurring patch cycles, production maintenance windows, technical incidents, and competing operational priorities.
• Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation, patching procedures, deployment standards, compliance reports, and runbooks.
• Relevant Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Microsoft 365, Azure/Intune, ITIL, or other infrastructure-focused certifications are a plus.
