THE ESU IT Helpdesk is Searching for Motivated Students to Join the Team

Job Summary: 

Student will be answering technical questions via telephone, email and walk-ins. Also installing Printer consumable parts; paper, toner and Fuser. Installing software for students and Faculty/Staff to ensure WIFI connections at ESU.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Current ESU Student.
  • Students must be reliable and dependable.
  • Student Helpdesk positions are not restricted to Computer Science majors, although students in that major are welcomed.
  • Passing Grade in Personal Computers & their uses (CPSC) is a plus.

Duties include:

  • Customer Service for students, staff and faculty via walk-in, email and incoming telephone calls to the helpdesk.
  • Check lab computers and printers for problems.

Examples of common tasks include:

  • Assist with file recovery and virus detection on student computers/media.
  • Assist staff with technical tasks; e.g getting laptops setup on ESU.
  • Wireless, re-imaging labs, updating/upgrading software.
  • Assist students in acquiring ESU accounts, resetting passwords.
  • Provide accurate information to students /faculty /parents.
  • Troubleshoot printing issues in the labs.
  • Maintenance of computer lab printers by refilling paper and changing toner.
  • Perform initial routine troubleshooting of computer hardware problems.

Additional Information:

  • Students work within the hours of  Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Hourly rate is $15.00 an hour.

Employment Eligibility & University Committment

Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills. Employment with ESU is contingent on the selected candidate passing a thorough background check that includes: FBI fingerprinting, PA Child Abuse, and employment/degree verifications.
