IT Buyer & Financial Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Buyer & Financial Analyst based in the United States.

This role combines IT procurement, financial analysis, accounting controls, and supplier management within a global technology organization.
You will oversee purchasing activities across IT services, software, subscriptions, hardware, infrastructure, and telecommunications.
The position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial controls, supporting budgets, and ensuring technology suppliers are managed effectively.
You will work closely with IT leaders, Finance, Sourcing, Legal, Accounts Payable, project teams, and external vendors.
Your analysis will support forecasting, variance management, accruals, capital spending, renewals, and broader technology investment decisions.
The environment is fast-paced and globally distributed, with opportunities to establish scalable processes during a significant technology transformation.
Success in this role requires strong financial discipline, attention to detail, procurement expertise, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple stakeholders.

Accountabilities

• Serve as the primary IT buyer for technology-related goods and services, including software, subscriptions, IT services, hardware, infrastructure equipment, peripherals, telecommunications, and network services.

• Create, submit, track, and administer purchase requisitions and purchase orders in accordance with purchasing policies, approval workflows, sourcing requirements, and available budgets.

• Partner with IT stakeholders, project managers, Finance, Accounts Payable, Sourcing, Legal, and suppliers to validate requirements, quotes, cost centers, project coding, approvals, and purchasing documentation.

• Maintain visibility into open purchase orders, committed spend, upcoming renewals, expiring services, aged or blocked invoices, supplier issues, and purchasing risks.

• Support software and subscription procurement by validating license quantities, renewal terms, contracts, compliance requirements, approvals, and appropriate financial treatment.

• Process and monitor supplier invoices, investigate discrepancies, and resolve missing invoices, payment blocks, purchase order matching issues, and billing concerns.

• Consolidate monthly operating and project expense forecasts and provide clear analysis of variances against forecast, plan, prior-year spending, and committed costs.

• Support monthly and quarterly financial close activities, including accrual preparation, expense timing validation, cross-charges, allocations, and reconciliation of technology spend.

• Support annual budgeting and financial planning by gathering IT requirements, reviewing historical spending and supplier commitments, and preparing recommendations for leadership.

• Monitor capital expenditures, validate in-service dates, support capitalization decisions, track capital appropriation documentation, and assist with project close-out activities.

• Maintain administrative oversight of IT supplier contracts, leases, maintenance agreements, service agreements, software subscriptions, equipment purchases, and renewal documentation.

• Track contract milestones, financial commitments, approval requirements, and service continuity risks to help prevent disruptions.

• Support telecommunications and network expense management by reviewing service inventories, billing, usage, installations, wireless services, circuits, carrier charges, and opportunities for cost optimization.

• Provide IT leadership and stakeholders with reporting on purchasing pipelines, forecasts, commitments, blocked invoices, renewals, contract risks, budget variances, and recommended actions.

• Contribute to the development of scalable procurement and financial processes within a rapidly evolving global IT environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.

• CPA or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in financial planning, forecasting, purchasing administration, supplier invoice management, contract administration, budgeting, or financial analysis.

• Experience supporting an IT organization or managing technology-related spend is strongly preferred.

• Previous experience as an IT buyer, purchasing analyst, procurement coordinator, financial analyst, contract administrator, or similar professional supporting technology suppliers.

• Experience purchasing or managing IT services, software, subscriptions, hardware, infrastructure, telecommunications, or other technology-related products and services.

• Proficiency with SAP ERP or comparable enterprise purchasing and financial systems, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoice processes, reporting, and transaction tracking.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to analyze spend data, develop forecasts, reconcile variances, and communicate financial findings.

• Practical experience with IT Service Management platforms and the ability to use service, demand, change, asset, or project information to inform purchasing and financial decisions.

• Working knowledge of IT services, infrastructure, software licensing, subscriptions, hardware, telecommunications, vendor management, and common technology terminology.

• Strong understanding of accounting and financial control principles, including expense management, capitalization, accruals, cost-center allocation, purchase commitments, invoice processing, P&L and balance-sheet impacts.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Ability to work effectively within a global, matrixed, and culturally diverse organization with distributed teams and multiple time zones.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and financial teams.

• Willingness to travel up to approximately 5% domestically or internationally based on business, project, supplier, or site requirements.

• Flexibility to work extended hours when required by global meetings, supplier schedules, project demands, or time-zone differences.
