IS Application Director

SUMMARY:

Reports to the Vice President Information Services. Responsible for providing information, application and management services to the entire Brown University Health, as well as, the health delivery affiliates. Information management services include strategic planning, IT architectural development, tactical planning, system analysis and design, application development and/or purchase, system implementation and user training and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains awareness of changes and trends in computer and systems technology in order to provide interpretation and recommendations to senior management. Participates in business planning through knowledge of and future vision of technology and systems as related to Brown University Health’s competitive position. Participates in development of long and short-term goals for effective operations of information services and related care delivery systems for Brown University Health as a whole and directly for a defined region. Participates with Vice President in developing strategy for information needs, systems development and hardware acquisition and integration. Ensures information services goals are consistent with Brown University Health’s goals and strategic objectives and that they meet or exceed customer needs and expectations; ensures customer satisfaction within region is maintained and enhanced. Develops and implements related policies and procedures to ensure effective operation of information services. Establishes standards for high quality work, communicates expectations to staff, evaluates effectiveness of policies and procedures and regularly prepares related reports on quality indicators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s level of knowledge in computer sciences or related field, including knowledge of state of the art software development and implementation.

The S Director, Revenue Cycle is a transformational leader responsible for the strategic direction, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Revenue Cycle applications, including Resolute Hospital Billing, Resolute Professional Billing, Claims, Charge Capture, Coding, Denials Management, Patient Access, and related revenue cycle technologies.

This individual serves as the primary liaison between Information Services, Finance, Revenue Cycle Operations, Patient Access, and executive leadership to ensure technology investments drive measurable improvements in financial performance, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient experience.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams of managers, analysts, and Epic professionals responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of complex revenue cycle workflows across hospital and professional billing environments.

They will work with leaders to establish strategic priorities, oversee large-scale Epic initiatives, manage application portfolios, and partner with operational leaders to reduce denials, improve clean-claim rates, accelerate cash collections, and strengthen revenue integrity.

This leader will drive innovation by leveraging emerging technologies, including Epic automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, and Microsoft-based solutions, to modernize revenue cycle operations and create scalable, data-driven capabilities.

They will champion governance, standardization, and operational excellence while ensuring system stability, stakeholder engagement, and successful adoption of new workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Provide executive leadership for Epic Revenue Cycle applications, including Hospital Billing, Professional Billing, Charge Capture, Coding, Claims, Denials, and Patient Access technologies.

Roadmap and Portfolio Management

Works with operations to develop and execute a multi-year Revenue Cycle technology roadmap aligned with organizational financial and operational goals.

Team Leadership

Lead managers, analysts, consultants, and vendors supporting Epic Revenue Cycle solutions.

Operational Partnership

Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership to improve denial prevention, claims management, reimbursement performance, and revenue integrity.

Implementation and Optimization

Oversee Epic upgrades, optimization efforts, and large-scale implementation projects.

Analytics and Performance

Utilize analytics and operational metrics to identify opportunities for workflow improvement and financial performance enhancement.

Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders, operational leadership, clinical partners, and external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of healthcare IT and/or Revenue Cycle leadership experience.

Significant experience leading Epic Revenue Cycle applications, including Resolute Hospital Billing and Resolute Professional Billing.

Demonstrated success managing large Epic implementations, upgrades, and optimization programs.

Strong understanding of hospital and physician revenue cycle operations, patient access, coding, claims, denials, reimbursement, and revenue integrity.

Proven experience leading large teams and complex stakeholder environments.

Epic certifications in Revenue Cycle-related applications strongly preferred.

Pay Range:

$162,988.80-$268,881.60
