Inventory Procurement Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Inventory Procurement Manager based in the United States.

As an Inventory Procurement Manager, you will lead procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and inventory optimization across a multi-site portfolio of 16 power generation facilities.
You will help ensure plants have the critical parts, materials, equipment, and services they need to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
The role combines strategic sourcing with hands-on inventory oversight, supplier performance management, cost optimization, and operational improvement.
You will use spending, inventory, supplier, and market data to identify savings opportunities and strengthen purchasing strategies across multiple locations.
Working closely with plant teams, suppliers, and corporate stakeholders, you will standardize processes and improve inventory accuracy and availability.
The position is primarily remote, with approximately 10% travel for quarterly site visits and inventory verification activities.

Accountabilities

• Lead sourcing, procurement, and inventory management activities across 16 facilities while promoting consistent and effective practices.

• Develop strategic sourcing and purchasing approaches using spending, inventory, supplier, and market data to identify cost savings and purchasing leverage.

• Manage supplier selection, negotiations, contracts, pricing, service levels, quality expectations, performance metrics, and ongoing supplier relationships.

• Partner with plant personnel to establish technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements and ensure critical materials and services are available when needed.

• Optimize inventory levels and accuracy while reducing shortages, excess stock, obsolete materials, and potential operational disruptions.

• Conduct quarterly site visits to verify inventory, investigate discrepancies, evaluate warehouse and storeroom practices, and support corrective actions.

• Identify opportunities to standardize materials, consolidate suppliers, leverage fleet-wide purchasing volume, and improve procurement and inventory processes.

• Monitor procurement, inventory, supplier, and spending metrics and prepare reporting that highlights trends, risks, savings opportunities, and areas for improvement.

• Oversee the resolution of purchase order, delivery, pricing, invoice, material quality, and supplier-related issues.

• Ensure procurement, inventory, and warehouse activities comply with applicable supply chain policies, procedures, contractual requirements, and internal controls.

• Use Maximo to manage procurement and inventory transactions, maintain accurate supplier and material information, and generate operational and analytical reports.

• Collaborate with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to improve procurement processes, inventory management, supplier performance, system utilization, and supplier diversity initiatives.

• Support broader procurement, inventory, and supply chain projects and initiatives as required.

• Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and comply with applicable safety policies, procedures, warnings, and PPE requirements.

• Work effectively with plant management, operational teams, suppliers, vendors, and corporate support functions.

• Support plant operations outside standard hours, including occasional extended hours, weekends, holidays, or callout availability when business needs require.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

• Equivalent relevant experience in procurement, inventory, supply chain, or an industrial environment may be considered in place of formal education.

• Extensive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, inventory management, and supplier management, ideally across multiple facilities or operating locations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing, inventory optimization, supplier performance management, contract administration, and cost control.

• Demonstrated ability to develop sourcing strategies, evaluate bids and proposals, negotiate commercial terms, leverage purchasing volume, and deliver cost savings.

• Proven experience managing suppliers, contracts, purchase orders, delivery performance, and procurement, quality, or invoice-related issues.

• Proficiency with Maximo or a comparable enterprise asset management (EAM) or ERP platform, including purchasing, inventory, vendor and material data, reporting, and analytics.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret spending, inventory, market, and supplier data to support informed business decisions.

• Experience establishing consistent procurement and inventory practices across multiple locations while maintaining accurate records and compliance.

• Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work effectively with plant personnel, operational leaders, suppliers, vendors, and corporate stakeholders.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex operational environment.

• Knowledge of power generation or other industrial operations is beneficial.

• Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, process improvement, and operational excellence.

• Valid and unrestricted U.S. driver's license required and must remain in good standing.

• Ability to work remotely with a reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace.

• Ability to periodically visit industrial facilities, including walking through plant, warehouse, and storeroom environments, standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven surfaces.

• Willingness to participate in required fitness-for-duty procedures, including post-offer physical examination and drug screening, as applicable.

Benefits

• Annual base salary of $115,000–$130,000, depending on qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related factors.

• Eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.
