Intern - Accounting/Finance - Corporate

Overview

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in the corporate Accounting/Finance environment of the power generation and coal mining industries.  A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled in a specific curriculum.  Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to state-of-the-art technology in coal mining and power generation operation.   Student interns will receive industry experience, hands-on training, paid internship and exposure to industry professionals.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Assist with treasury functions, including weekly and monthly cash reports.
• Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned.
• Assist with the evaluation and testing of internal accounting controls.
• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.
• Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and other accounting related records.
• Work on special accounting projects which may include projects in Accounts Payable, Budgeting / Forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance, and monthly financial closing processes.
• Provide support to the Finance team as assigned.
• Must have regular and reliable attendance.

Education/Experience

• To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• MUST be available for a 12-week program beginning in Late-May to Mid-August.

Compensation and Benefits

At Prairie State, the base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $25.00 per hour Undergraduate level and $28.00 per hour Graduate level.
