Position Summary

Colorado Network Staffing (CNS) is seeking an experienced Interior / Architectural Assessor – BUILDER Assessor to conduct Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs) at government and military locations. This position will focus primarily on evaluating, identifying, measuring, and documenting interior architectural systems, finishes, doors, partitions, ceilings, flooring, and other building components to support repair requirements, cost estimates, and long-range maintenance planning.

The Interior / Architectural Assessor will work as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team evaluating facilities such as hangars, warehouses, administrative and operations buildings, vehicle maintenance shops, and other federal facilities. Assessments are conducted using the BUILDER™ Sustainment Management System (SMS).

Collected BUILDER™ data is used to evaluate facility conditions and develop repair or replacement requirements, anticipated replacement intervals, preliminary scopes, and cost estimates for building systems and components.

Essential Functions

Interior & Architectural Assessments

Conduct detailed visual assessments of interior architectural systems and building components.

Identify and document flooring materials, including carpet, tile, terrazzo, finished concrete, resilient flooring, and other common floor finishes.

Identify ceiling systems, including gypsum board, acoustical ceiling tile, exposed systems, wood, and other ceiling types.

Identify interior wall construction, including concrete masonry unit (CMU), drywall and stud construction, and other partition types.

Identify wall finishes and coverings, including paint, wallpaper, paneling, wainscoting, tile, and other materials.

Identify, classify, and count interior doors by material and type, including wood and metal doors.

Identify and count restroom and toilet partitions.

Identify interior stairs and distinguish construction types such as metal, wood, and concrete.

Document other architectural components encountered during facility assessments.

Identify visible deterioration, damage, wear, moisture intrusion, or other deficiencies affecting interior architectural components.

BUILDER™ Facility Condition Assessments

Conduct Facility Condition Assessments at federal and military facilities using BUILDER™ SMS.

Collect condition and quantity information used to support repair projects, cost estimates, and long-range facility maintenance planning.

Use a tablet and stylus to document facility assets and assessment findings in the field.

Accurately classify building components, materials, quantities, and conditions according to established assessment procedures.

Follow established BUILDER™ inventory rules, naming conventions, processes, and quality standards.

Maintain organized electronic documentation for large volumes of facility asset data.

Review collected information for accuracy and completeness before submission.

Support correction and quality-control efforts when discrepancies are identified.

Training may be provided for qualified candidates without previous BUILDER™ experience.

Field Data Collection & Documentation

Count, measure, and calculate quantities of interior architectural components.

Estimate square footage, linear footage, quantities, and other measurements as required.

Review building drawings and available facility documentation to support accurate asset inventories.

Gather relevant information through observations and discussions with facility occupants or representatives.

Capture photographs and supporting documentation of architectural assets and observed conditions.

Identify discrepancies between field conditions, drawings, and available facility information.

Apply critical thinking and ask appropriate questions to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate deliverables.

Maintain complete and organized field notes and electronic assessment records.

Take ownership of data quality and ensure collected information accurately represents facility conditions.

Multidisciplinary Facility Assessment Support

While the primary focus of this position is interior architectural assets, the assessor may assist with identifying and documenting related building components, including:

Interior wall systems and finishes.

Flooring and floor finishes.

Ceiling systems and finishes.

Interior doors and frames.

Restroom and toilet partitions.

Interior stairs and railings.

Windows and associated architectural components.

Building entrances and common areas.

Interior specialty construction and finishes.

Other architectural assets encountered during facility assessments.

Field Coordination & Team Support

Work collaboratively with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other assessment team members.

Follow established project schedules, site-access requirements, and assessment procedures.

Communicate professionally with facility personnel, occupants, project managers, and team members.

Coordinate assessment activities to minimize disruption to occupied or operational facilities.

Support the team in completing assessments efficiently while maintaining established data-quality standards.

Contribute to accurate facility information used to support maintenance and infrastructure decisions for federal and military facilities.

Qualifications: Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in architecture, facility assessment, building inspection, construction, facility management, or a related field.

Registered professional or eligible for applicable professional registration within approximately two (2) years, where applicable.

Working knowledge of commercial, institutional, or industrial building construction and interior architectural systems.

Ability to identify common flooring, ceiling, wall, door, partition, and interior finish types.

Ability to recognize common signs of deterioration and deficiencies in interior building components.

Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, and facility documentation.

Ability to count and measure components and perform basic field calculations.

Ability to use a tablet, stylus, measuring devices, camera, and other field equipment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection.

Ability to organize and maintain large volumes of electronic assessment information.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous BUILDER™ Sustainment Management System (SMS) experience.

Previous Facility Condition Assessment experience.

Experience assessing commercial, institutional, federal, or military facilities.

Architectural or interior building assessment experience.

Experience with building finishes, materials, doors, partitions, and interior construction systems.

Facility management or asset management experience.

Experience reviewing architectural drawings and construction documents.

Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering or facility assessment team.

Military experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This position involves extensive field work at federal and military facilities, including administrative buildings, hangars, warehouses, maintenance facilities, operational buildings, and other occupied or active environments.

Field conditions may include exposure to noise, airborne particles, moving equipment, mechanical systems, heat, cold, and other conditions commonly encountered within active facilities.

The position also includes remote office work for data review, documentation, quality control, and completion of assessment deliverables.

Physical Demands

This is an active field position that requires the ability to:

Walk approximately 10,000–15,000 steps per day during on-site assessments.

Stand and walk for extended periods.

Navigate stairs, corridors, equipment areas, and other facility spaces.

Climb stairs and ladders when necessary and permitted.

Bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and occasionally crawl to observe building components.

Work in both hot and cold facility environments.

Frequently lift and/or move field equipment or materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.

Use tablets, measuring devices, cameras, and other assessment equipment throughout the workday.

Visually distinguish materials, finishes, colors, component types, and physical conditions.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a rotational project schedule.

Typical monthly scheduling may include:

Two weeks per month: On-site facility assessments, generally consisting of approximately 50-hour work weeks.

One week per month: Remote work, generally consisting of approximately 40 hours.

One week per month: Scheduled off.

Schedules may vary depending on project requirements, travel, facility access, and assessment needs.

Travel

This position requires travel approximately two weeks per month to federal and military sites. Travel assignments may involve extended stays at project locations throughout the United States.

One week per month will generally consist of remote work, and one week per month will be scheduled off based on the project rotation.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Must be able to successfully complete a Federal Background Check.

Must be able to obtain and maintain access to federal and military facilities.

Must have or be able to obtain an applicable U.S. security clearance if required by the assigned project.
