The Intake Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for new patients, guiding them through the intake process and ensuring accurate record-keeping. They are responsible for verifying insurance details, collecting intake information, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients.
Job Description
As our Intake Coordinator, you are the first point of contact for new patients. You will guide them through their first visit. You will make sure their records are correct and complete.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services.
- Greet new patients and help them feel safe.
- Check patient insurance details and benefits.
- Collect information and fill out intake forms.
- Assume responsibility in maintaining a safe, orderly and therapeutic physical environment for all patients.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and health professional affiliates, healthcare facilities, and nursing staff.
- Maintain knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in healthcare or customer service required.
- Great communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good computer skills and attention to detail.
- Current CPR certification.

Desert Parkway’s comprehensive mental health programs are designed to treat children as young as 7 years old, adolescents, adults and seniors. And we have a specialized Hope for Heroes program for first responders and the military.
Our inpatient care is monitored 24 hours a day in a safe, secured facility. Desert Parkway's licensed medical team provides trauma-informed, evidence-based treatments, medication management, and "Next Step" Outpatient Programs in our Outpatient Services Facility.
We are dedicated to helping patients with mental illness, behavioral illness, chemical dependency, detox, PTSD and dual-diagnosis with compassion and kindness. Our specialized services include: a no charge, confidential assessment; inpatient psychiatric crisis stabilization with 24 hour supervisions; mental illness and behavioral concerns; chemical dependency; detox/rehab; addictions; and suicidal thoughts.
Our Hope for Heroes program includes a specialized intake protocol and treatment for military and first responders in their exclusive 23-bed unit.
