We are seeking a motivated Inside Sales Representative who is a proactive self-starter with strong multi-tasking, customer service, attention to detail, and communication skills. In this on-site, full-time role (Monday–Friday), you will develop a deep understanding of industrial hose manufacturing processes and product lines in order to accurately communicate with customers about products, pricing, and timelines. You will serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, helping to identify their needs, recommend solutions, and support the sales process from initial inquiry through fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a subject matter expert for customers on products, pricing, manufacturing timelines, and the company’s high-quality customer service strategy.
• Continuously learn and observe plant operations to maintain accurate, up-to-date knowledge of all products, pricing, and manufacturing timelines.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships that foster trust, dependability, and long-term partnerships.
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions that align with their requirements.
• Coordinate closely with the Outside Sales team to service specific customers, assist with special projects, and support telemarketing efforts.
• Handle incoming calls from customers, including those who may be upset or confused, with patience, professionalism, and discretion.
• Complete accurate data entry in a manufacturing MRP system with a high level of attention to detail.
• Support pricing and quoting activities, including providing customers with clear information on prices and timelines.
• Troubleshoot customer issues related to products, orders, and timelines, and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner.
• Collaborate effectively with other employees, sales team members, and management to support overall sales and customer service goals.
• Spend the initial 1–2 months on the production floor assembling and building product to gain hands-on understanding of the product line and manufacturing process.
• Adapt to changes in the work environment, including competing demands and unexpected task assignments.
• Efficiently prioritize and plan work activities, developing realistic action plans to meet customer and business needs.
• Respond constructively to direction and feedback, and proactively solicit feedback to improve performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the sales function and overall business operations.

Essential Skills

• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly and troubleshooting.
• 1–3 years of experience working directly with customers to uncover needs and provide solutions.
• Experience with pricing and quoting, including providing customers with accurate prices and timelines.
• Data entry experience with strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with manufacturing MRP systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and customers.
• Ability and interest in learning extensive information regarding industrial manufacturing and discussing that information confidently with customers.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, activity-based sales environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner and understand when to escalate appropriately.
• Comfort with computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands and unexpected tasks.
• Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
• Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Professional communication skills for working with other employees, sales, management, and outside clients.
• At least 2 years of prior experience in sales and customer service.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in industrial manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience with hose assembly is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Comfort working in a production setting to learn products and processes.
• Interest in long-term career growth within a stable manufacturing organization.
• Ability to respond positively to coaching and performance feedback.

Work Environment

This role is based on-site with a manufacturer of industrial hoses and accessories, offering a stable work environment supported by a wide variety of product manufacturing. You will work a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday. During the first 1–2 months, you will spend time on the production floor assembling and building products to gain hands-on knowledge of the product line and the overall manufacturing process. The environment is fast-paced and activity-based, with close collaboration between inside sales, outside sales, and manufacturing operations. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
