Job Description

Global Health Initiative (GHI) of Henry Ford Health International is seeking an experienced Infectious Disease Physician to lead and oversee a portfolio of quality improvement initiatives, educational programs and research projects focused on infectious disease in lower-middle-income countries (LMIC).  The ideal candidate will have expertise in clinical care, public health, and research, as well as experience leading multidisciplinary teams and working with international stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on health systems and clinical practices in LMICs. 

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global partners to strengthen health systems, improve the quality of care, and support training initiatives.
• Lead and mentor project teams, including both local and international staff, ensuring execution of health initiatives.
• Design, implement, and evaluate clinical protocols, quality improvement strategies, and public health research, in alignment with program objectives.
• Identify, evaluate, and support the development of grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and funding strategies.
• Contribute to research, monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement efforts, ensuring that findings are disseminated effectively to guide future programs.
• Represent Henry Ford Health- GHI at national and international forums, advocating for best practices and building strong relationships with key collaborators, global partners, and ministries of health.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders in the global health community, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• MD with board certification in Infectious Disease.
• At least 10 years of leadership experience within a healthcare setting, with a focus on infectious diseases.
• Experience in grant writing and successful grant acquisition, including identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals, and securing funding from public, private, and/or foundation sources.
• Proven leadership in clinical excellence, educational innovation, and impactful research, specifically within LMIC settings.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and academic productivity in diverse, cross-cultural environments.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare and education.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Willingness to travel to international field sites.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and building sustainable partnerships.
