Program and Position Overview: Love Justice International (LJI) combats human trafficking through transit monitoring—intercepting potential victims at key transportation hubs, where traffickers and victims are most visible. Because trafficking is already underway at these points, our teams can gather vital information to assist law enforcement in arresting traffickers and disrupting trafficking networks. To date, LJI has intercepted over 115,000 individuals, resulting in more than 2,300 arrests. For more information on our impact, visit our website: lovejustice.ngo. 

To ensure excellence and accountability across our global operations, Love Justice has developed more than 30 core processes. These structured methods help our partners run their programs effectively in critical areas such as financial management, administration, human resources, data collection, security, potential victim care, investigations, and legal case support. While we aim to standardize these processes for consistency, we remain open to adapting them to meet specific local contexts and operational needs. Developing and implementing these processes is central to our core competency of "searching out the people, places, and tools to maximize mission impact.”

Our approach to maximizing mission impact involves a process we call "Impact Engineering." Our dedicated Impact Engineering Team develops, refines, and improves our core processes by creating practical, scalable tools such as software applications, data-collection systems, spreadsheets, standardized forms, and clear operational standards. By continuously testing, refining, and standardizing these tools, we ensure consistent, measurable, and scalable impact across all our programs. This team's innovative work directly supports our frontline staff and helps optimize our interventions, enabling Love Justice to deliver the greatest possible impact per dollar spent.

The Impact Engineer will report to the Chief of Staff. The position will be based at our program HQ in Ballito, South Africa. This position may involve travel to our different fields.

This role is for people who can think rigorously about impact, translate ideas into usable tools, and work across disciplines to help LJI and our partners do the most good possible. There is no single background that fits—success depends on a sharp mind, a builder’s instinct, a willingness to learn, and a deep commitment to LJI’s mission.

Key Responsibilities: 

Find the most important opportunities to increase mission impact by looking at field realities, data, and partner feedback.
Turn what you learn into simple, practical tools—whether software features, forms, spreadsheets, or clear processes—that partners can use confidently.
Collaborate to test new ideas in the field, learn quickly from what works and what doesn’t, and refine tools until they’re ready to scale.
Work directly with field teams and partners to understand their constraints and make sure solutions fit local contexts.
Write clear, straightforward standards and workflows so tools can be used consistently across locations.
Improve LJI’s core processes by identifying problems, understanding root causes, and proposing evidence-based fixes.
Approach problems with curiosity and skepticism—question assumptions, look for alternative explanations, and focus on what drives real, measurable impact.
Travel periodically to observe operations firsthand, test tools on site, and adjust designs based on what you learn.
Build and maintain a team of financial supporters through regular communication and updates.

Qualifications:

Mission & Faith Alignment

Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”

Experience & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (any field demonstrating strong analytical, technical, or problem-solving foundations).
Experience: Significant experience in at least one relevant domain—e.g., business, operations, finance, legal, data analysis, human assessments, human resources, security, engineering, or product development.
Demonstrated ability to design and improve processes, tools, or systems in a real-world operational context.
Familiarity with spreadsheets and data-driven decision-making (Google Sheets or Excel; Tableau or other analysis tools a plus).

Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in simplifying complex ideas into clear, actionable guidance.

Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with partners from diverse contexts (international experience preferred but not required).
AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve your own work—drafting, research, analysis, and redesigning workflows—with the discernment to verify outputs, catch errors, and recognize where AI is not appropriate. Staff use AI within the boundaries of LJI's AI Tool Usage Policy.
