Position Summary

The Briarwood Community is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support the Human Resources department with various administrative and project-based responsibilities.

This paid internship offers hands-on experience in a professional HR environment and provides exposure to recruitment, employee records management, onboarding processes, and special projects. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, eager to learn, and interested in developing a career in Human Resources or Business Administration.

Position Type: Internship

Compensation: $18/hr

Schedule: 8/hrs a week split into 4hr shifts twice a week

Key Responsibilities

• File and organize employee records and HR documentation.
• Scan personnel files and department records while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with document management and record retention processes.
• Support HR projects and department initiatives as assigned.
• Assist with data entry and administrative tasks.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain electronic and paper files.
• Help ensure HR records are accurate, complete, and properly stored.
• Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team.
• Assist with onboarding materials, recruiting activities, and employee communications as needed.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Communications, or a related field preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, copiers, scanners, and other office technology.

The Human Resources Intern will interact with employees, managers, applicants, and visitors while supporting various HR functions and projects.

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and filing of documents.
• Ability to lift and carry files, office supplies, and materials up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move throughout the community as needed to support department activities.
