HR Generalist (Part-Time)

About the Role

UP.Labs is a venture studio that builds AI-native B2B software companies in partnership with the leading companies of physical industry. We’re looking for a part-time HR Generalist (15-20hrs/wk) to support our Head of People Operations with the day-to-day execution and administration required across UP.Labs and our growing portfolio of companies.

This is a hands-on support role focused on keeping People operations organized, moving, and accurate. You’ll help with employee onboarding, benefits administration, HR systems, documentation, and recurring portfolio company needs, while also helping bring more structure to the processes and information behind them.

You’ll work closely with our Head of People Operations, who will continue to own People strategy, policies, and key decisions. We need someone who can take direction, execute independently against agreed-upon processes, surface issues and opportunities, and make sure the details get handled.

The goal is to create leverage for our Head of People Operations so she can spend more time on higher-impact People initiatives while knowing the day-to-day work is being executed well.

What You'll Do

People Operations & Administration

• Support day-to-day HR administration across UP.Labs and select portfolio companies.
• Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, including setting employees up in Justworks and other HR systems.
• Help ensure employees complete benefits enrollment, employment documentation, and other onboarding requirements.
• Maintain employee records and keep People data, documentation, and systems organized and up to date.
• Create and maintain onboarding guides, checklists, templates, and employee resources.
• Provide light administrative support within Rippling and other People systems.
• Track open items, follow up with employees and stakeholders, and make sure administrative processes reach completion.
• Escalate questions, exceptions, and decisions to the Head of People Operations before moving forward.

Portfolio Company Support

• Support the Head of People Operations with recurring HR needs across our portfolio companies.
• Help coordinate onboarding, benefits, payroll administration, and related People operations as portfolio companies hire and grow.
• Maintain organized records, trackers, and documentation across multiple companies.
• Help prepare repeatable templates and resources that can be used as new companies launch.
• Coordinate with portfolio company leaders and employees on administrative requests, with guidance from the Head of People Operations.
• Keep the Head of People Operations informed of outstanding issues, upcoming needs, and anything requiring a decision.

Organization & Process Improvement

• Help organize People processes, documentation, and information that currently live across multiple tools and companies.
• Build and maintain dashboards or trackers that create better visibility into onboarding, employee information, deadlines, and outstanding actions.
• Identify repetitive or manual processes that could potentially be simplified or automated.
• Research and suggest practical ways to improve how our People systems and workflows fit together.
• Help implement approved process improvements and automations under the direction of the Head of People Operations.
• Create cleaner, more repeatable workflows that make it easier to support UP.Labs and its portfolio as they grow.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of HR, People Operations, or HR Generalist experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with employee onboarding, benefits administration, HR systems, and day-to-day People operations.
• Experience with Justworks preferred; familiarity with Rippling is a plus.
• Highly organized and comfortable managing detailed work across multiple companies and competing priorities.
• Strong follow-through - you keep track of open items, close loops, and don't let administrative details fall through the cracks.
• Systems-minded and naturally inclined to make information and processes more organized.
• Comfortable identifying opportunities for improvement while working within established decision-making and approval processes.
• Able to work independently on execution while knowing when to escalate a question or decision.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where processes are still evolving.
• Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee information.
