Position Summary

Palm House is seeking a Seasonal Houseman to support our Housekeeping team in maintaining an immaculate, inviting, and well-stocked hotel. This role helps ensure Room Attendants have the supplies and assistance they need while responding promptly and courteously to guest requests.

The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, and takes pride in keeping every space ready for our guests. From delivering fresh linens to maintaining orderly service areas, the Houseman contributes to the comfort and care that define the Palm House experience.

This position is seasonal, with employment anticipated from October through May. Employment is expected to conclude at the end of the seasonal period.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping Support

• Deliver and replenish linens, towels, amenities, and cleaning supplies for Room Attendants.
• Collect soiled linens and transport them to designated laundry areas.
• Keep housekeeping closets, storage rooms, carts, and service areas clean, organized, and stocked.
• Assist with moving furniture and setting up rollaway beds or other approved guest room equipment as directed.
• Support deep cleaning projects and other assigned housekeeping tasks.

Cleanliness & Property Care

• Maintain the cleanliness of assigned corridors, service landings, stairwells, and other designated areas.
• Vacuum carpets and clean floors and surfaces using approved methods and equipment.
• Remove trash and recycling and transport materials to designated disposal areas.
• Report maintenance needs, damaged items, and safety hazards promptly.
• Handle hotel furnishings, equipment, and supplies carefully to prevent damage.

Guest Service

• Greet guests warmly and maintain a courteous, professional presence.
• Deliver requested items promptly and follow through to ensure requests are completed.
• Respect guest privacy and follow hotel procedures for room entry and key security.
• Refer guest concerns or requests outside the role’s responsibilities to the appropriate team member.

Safety & Teamwork

• Follow hotel procedures for cleaning chemicals, equipment use, safe lifting, and personal protective equipment.
• Follow lost-and-found procedures and promptly turn in items discovered while working.
• Communicate supply shortages, outstanding requests, and operational concerns to Housekeeping leadership.
• Work collaboratively with Room Attendants, Laundry, Engineering, and other departments.
• Participate in training and uphold Palm House cleanliness, presentation, and service standards.

Experience & Knowledge

• Previous experience in housekeeping, hotel operations, or a similar cleaning and support role preferred.
• Luxury hotel or resort experience is an advantage.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment, safe chemical handling, and housekeeping procedures preferred.
• Willingness to learn and consistently follow Palm House cleanliness and service standards.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, organized spaces.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize assignments, and complete tasks efficiently.
• Courteous communication with guests, colleagues, and supervisors.
• A dependable work ethic and a collaborative approach.

• Discretion when handling guest belongings and confidential information.

Availability & Working Conditions

• Availability for seasonal employment from October through May, with employment expected to conclude at the end of the season.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work in a busy hotel environment and safely handle cleaning products and equipment using provided training and protective equipment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Standing and walking for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching while performing housekeeping duties.
• Lifting and carrying linens, supplies, and equipment using safe handling practices and assistance when needed.
• Pushing and pulling housekeeping carts and linen bins.
• Safely operating cleaning equipment and moving furnishings with appropriate assistance.
