About Our Family:
We are a busy, active family of eight, located in Winchester, MA, with a unique blend of work and personal life that keeps our days busy and fulfilling. Our household includes three younger children, currently in 6th and 4th grades, who are involved in various after-school activities, as well as three older kids who have moved out but still remain an integral part of our family. We live in Winchester during the school year, but our lifestyle is dynamic: we spend weekends and vacations between November and March in New Hampshire for skiing, and summers on Cape Cod.
Our family is always on the move, with multiple activities happening year-round. Sports are a significant part of our routine. Outside of sports, the kids are involved in many community or academic activities. As a family, we value academics, recreation, and staying healthy. We strive to give each child the attention and space to pursue their passions, whether that’s in the classroom or on the field or slopes.
Dad works in property management, splitting time between home and three offices, while Mom is an entrepreneur and jewelry designer with a home studio. We deeply value structure, organization, and a productive environment in our home. Our goal is for our house to feel like a place of calm, where our family can unwind, connect, and enjoy quality time together. We’re looking for someone who can seamlessly integrate into our routine and support us in maintaining a home that is functional, kid-friendly, aesthetically beautiful, and enjoyable.
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual who can anticipate needs, take initiative, and manage various household tasks with ease. This role operates behind the scenes, providing essential support to ensure that our family can thrive in our busy lives. If you are someone who enjoys problem-solving, has an eye for organization, and thrives in a structured environment, we’d love to meet you. You’ll be a key part of our team, ensuring that our home is a place where we can relax, recharge, and enjoy the precious moments of family life.
Who You Are / What We’re Looking For:
- Proactive & Independent: You can take initiative and work independently, anticipating needs without constant direction.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: You thrive in structured environments and excel at creating and maintaining efficient systems.
- Flexible & Adaptable: Comfortable in dynamic environments, managing tasks across multiple households, and adjusting to changes in schedule.
- Hands-On: You enjoy being involved in both strategic (systems) and hands-on (household tasks) work.
- Team-Oriented: While you work behind the scenes, you value collaboration and open communication with the family.
- Problem-Solver: You’re motivated by progress and productivity, finding solutions to everyday household challenges.
- Family-Centered: You care about creating a well-organized, nurturing home environment that allows the family to thrive. You are comfortable with children and know how to partner with them to get things done.
- Calm & Efficient: You approach household management with a calm demeanor, managing busy schedules and transitions smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Household Organization & Maintenance:
- Create and/or maintain household organization systems, including seasonal swaps (clothing, sports gear, decor).
- Daily resets to prepare the home for cleaners and ensure smooth transitions.
- Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas).
- Organizational projects including toys, gear, and mudroom updates.
- Prepare donation drop-offs and manage related tasks.
- Event/holiday prep as needed (mild).
- Packing/unpacking for travel and managing household logistics.
- Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
Family Support:
- Assist with child-related tasks such as homework oversight, instrument practice reminders, and accountability.
- Check backpacks/clothing/snacks to teach kids self-sufficiency.
- Provide light transportation (activity pick-ups or drop-offs).
- While not a main role, some childcare may become a future option.
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:
- Monitor and refresh spaces like the mudroom, laundry room, and kids’ playroom as part of seasonal projects.
- Alert cleaning staff when deep cleaning is needed and take proactive steps.
Inventory & Errands:
- Restock pantry and fridge and manage household supply lists.
- Order supplies and handle returns.
- Assist with errands, such as dry cleaning and gift shopping.
Meal Prep
- Light batch cooking (eg. rice)
- Prepare, chop, refresh fruit, veggies, and healthy snacks
- Kitchen clean-up and maintenance
Laundry & Linens:
- Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the three younger girls.
- Maintain tidy laundry areas and handle linen rotation as needed.
Vehicle Management:
- Fuel and clean family vehicles and ensure they are well-organized.
- Track yearly inspections and maintain upkeep.
Vendor & Property Oversight:
- Ensure property readiness with stocked pantry and clean spaces that are usable for the family.
- Oversee cleaners, contractors, and landscapers.
- Coordinate small repairs, and assist with seasonal property maintenance.
- Manage outdoor spaces, including putting out furniture and ensuring grills are ready.
Administrative & Personal Support:
- Assist with calendar management and maintain visibility into the family’s schedule.
- Help with household admin tasks, such as finding repair people and managing vendors.
