Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant

Location: Bay Village, OH 44140

Employment Type: Part-time, 15–20 hours per week

Schedule: Daytime hours preferred, with flexibility based on candidate availability. Core availability should fall during school hours on weekdays, with occasional evening shifts for date night coverage. Tuesdays are not available.

Compensation: $30–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience. Mileage reimbursement provided for work-related errands using candidate's personal vehicle.

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable personal transportation required; mileage reimbursement provided.
• Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, subject to applicable legal accommodations.
• CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain certification prior to start.
• Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the workday.

About Our Family

We’re an active family of four in Bay Village, just outside of Cleveland. Our home is warm, lived-in, and usually bustling—kids coming and going, the dog underfoot, and a calendar that fills up fast with work, school, and community commitments. We love our life, but the day-to-day “reset” tasks (laundry, tidying, organizing, keeping things stocked and running smoothly) tend to pile up quickly, and that’s where we’re looking for support.

Our kids are curious, energetic, and involved in activities throughout the week, and we have a sweet senior dog who’s very much part of the family. We have a biweekly cleaning service, but we’re hoping to find someone who naturally notices what needs doing, takes initiative, and enjoys creating order—so our home feels calm, functional, and cared for.

You are detail-oriented, proactive, and self-directed. You don't need a checklist to know what needs attention, and you take real pride in doing things thoroughly rather than quickly.

You're warm, genuinely enjoy kids and animals, and bring a calm, grounded energy to a busy household.

Laundry is your strong suit — you understand that proper care means sorting, spot-treating, and handling delicate items with attention — not just cycling loads through.

You are trustworthy, reliable, and someone who respects boundaries around phone use and privacy, especially when children are in your care. You welcome feedback and see it as part of building a great working relationship. Experience in household management is important to us, and a background in education or childcare is a plus.

What matters most is that you show up consistently, do the work with care, and genuinely enjoy being part of a home that runs well.

Key Responsibilities

Laundry & Linen Care

• Wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry for the entire family, with careful attention to kids' clothing and proper stain/spot treatment.
• Ironing, steaming, and special garment care as needed.
• Weekly linen rotation for the primary bedroom.
• Maintain clean, tidy, and well-stocked laundry areas.

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home, including kids' rooms, closets, and dressers.
• Daily resets of common areas: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic zones.
• Prep the home before biweekly cleaning service arrives.
• Seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps.
• Rotate seasonal gear in entryway and mudroom areas (shoes, coats, etc.).
• Coordinate and prepare donation drop-offs.
• Event, holiday, and guest preparation.
• Packing and unpacking support for family travel.
• Indoor plant care.
• Routine home maintenance tasks: changing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, and similar items on a regular cadence.

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional deep cleans of the refrigerator, oven, and baseboards.
• Refresh mudroom, entry, and garage areas seasonally.
• Clean air purifiers and humidifiers.
• Manage backyard tidying, especially during warmer months when outdoor play areas are in regular use.

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies as needed.
• Manage running household supply lists.
• Manage household orders and subscriptions (primarily Costco and Amazon).
• Handle returns and occasional dry cleaning coordination.
• Mail and package handling, including putting items away and breaking down boxes.

Meal Support

• Occasional meal prep: 1–2 dinners per week as needed, following recipes and family preferences.
• Pre-prep fruits and vegetables (chopping, portioning, etc.).
• Ensure ingredients are stocked and ready for the family's planned meals.
• Grocery shopping as needed.
• Kitchen clean-up and general maintenance.

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Be on-site point of contact for cleaners, contractors, and other service providers.
• Bring repair needs and maintenance items to the family's attention.
• Coordinate scheduling for HVAC, water filter, and air filter service (approximately every 6 months).

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Maintain and manage shared household calendar (Google Calendar).
• Be available as point of contact for home-based appointments and scheduling needs.

Family Support & Child Assistance

• Occasional backup childcare for date nights or daytime weekend coverage (not a regular weekly commitment).
• Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks as needed.
• Light pet care including feeding and walking the family dog on an as-needed basis.
