Job Title: House Manager / Family Assistant

Location: Whispering Pines, NC 28327

Employment Type: Part-time, 10–15 hours per week

Schedule:

• Monday through Thursday; occasional childcare Friday through Saturday upon request with advanced coordination
• Approximately 2–4 hours per day during daytime and afternoon hours
• Afternoon availability needed for school pickups and activity transport
• The schedule flexes with family travel. The family will provide at least one week's notice, though unpreventable travel disruptions may occasionally occur.

Compensation: $28–$33/hour, based on experience

Start Date: Early November 2026

Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Maintain a smoke-free environment
• Fragrance-free or fragrance-light; committed to using non-toxic cleaning products
• Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and current auto insurance; mileage reimbursement provided
• CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain certification prior to start
• Comfortable signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and respecting household privacy
• Ability to navigate a multi-level home throughout the day

About Our Family

We’re an active, health-conscious family of four based in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. Both parents work from home and periodically travel for work, and our two school-age boys have busy schedules filled with school, sports, and activities. We also have a three-year-old golden retriever and a leopard gecko who are very much part of the family. We value a home that feels organized, welcoming, and well cared for, along with healthy routines and time together as a family.

With two working parents, active kids, pets, and regular travel, there are a lot of moving pieces to keep coordinated. We’re looking for someone who can help carry the day-to-day rhythm of the household — from laundry, meal prep, errands, and home resets to school pickups, activity transportation, and keeping an eye on what’s coming up on the family calendar. Having someone who can step in, learn our routines, and thoughtfully stay ahead of what needs to happen will make a meaningful difference for our family.

We’re looking for someone who is warm, dependable, organized, and naturally proactive. You notice the little things, take notes, create systems where they’re helpful, and enjoy seeing a household run smoothly. Once you understand our routines and preferences, you’re comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities and anticipating what comes next. Most importantly, you bring genuine care to the role and enjoy being a trusted, steady presence for the whole family — kids and pets included.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

• School pickups to include going into the school to check cubbies and missing assignments noted on the teacher’s whiteboard
• Car-line item checks ("do you have your water bottle?"). Knowing what the child needs to bring home that day to support homework and projects.
• Backpack and lunchbox unpack, clean, and restock; help kids stay organized
• Oversight of homework and the school calendar; backwards-planning to ensure assignments and projects are completed on time
• Transport to and from after-school activities
• Increased child support and light supervision during parent travel
• Occasional overnights as needed during travel periods
• Kid-related errands and appointment transport

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Daily tidying and reset: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, couch pillows
• Prep home ahead of bi-weekly cleaning team visits
• Create and maintain household organization systems
• Seasonal clothing swaps and closet transitions
• Coordinate donation drop-offs and obtain itemized receipts for tax purposes
• Guest and holiday prep (a few times per year)
• Unpack after family travel
• Routine home maintenance: change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detector checks
• Manage outdoor furniture covers before inclement weather

Inventory & Errands

• Own and maintain a running household supply list
• Grocery shopping (in-store or curbside)
• Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
• Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and occasional gift shopping
• Mail and package handling; break down and recycle boxes
• Airport drop-off and pickup as needed

Meal Support

• Prepare 2–3 dinners per week; batch cooking for leftovers is welcome
• Follow Whole30/Paleo guidelines: no seed oils, added sugars, or food dyes, non-GMO
• Flexible on hot-and-ready vs. prep-ahead depending on the week's calendar
• Prep healthy snacks (fresh fruit, vegetables)
• Kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, dry, fold, and put away family laundry. Marie Kondo folding style for kids’ clothes.
• Organize drawers and closets
• Ironing, steaming, and special garment care
• Linen rotation: towels weekly; sheets on a set schedule coordinated with cleaners
• Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Pet Care

• Drive the family dog to grooming and veterinary appointments (family vehicle available for pet-related transport)
• Feeding and walks as needed, particularly after school
• Administer allergy medication during family travel
• Occasional pet and house sitting during travel
• Maintain pet supply inventory

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Periodic pantry clean-outs: dispose of expired items and restock
• Clean and replace air purifier filters and household air filters
• Larger organizational projects (attic, closets, junk drawers, pantry) scoped and scheduled separately

Vehicle Upkeep & Vendor Oversight

• Schedule routine vehicle maintenance as needed
• Ad hoc fueling, cleaning, and organizing of family vehicles
• Oversee cleaning team, pool service, landscapers, and other contractors as needed
• Research, get quotes, and coordinate vendors for household task list items

Household Calendar & Administrative Support

• Stay familiar with the family calendar and household schedule, including school activities, appointments, travel, household services, and other commitments
• Backwards-plan from the calendar to anticipate transportation, meal prep, errands, and household needs for the week ahead
• Coordinate household appointments, services, and vendor visits as needed
• Track household expenses, mileage, and receipts accurately
• Maintain clear notes and follow up on household tasks and open items
