About Our Family

Based in Los Altos, we are a warm, bustling, active family of four with two young, bright girls (ages 4 and 7), who are in the process of settling into our new home. Our household runs on routine and intention: mornings are full of lively energy as we get the kids off to school, and the rest of the day is all about keeping our household running smoothly so that everyone can thrive. One parent works full-time in a demanding role and travels occasionally for work, while the other is home managing the household, including daily cooking, cleaning, tidying, organizing, and supporting the children’s day-to-day routines.

We care deeply about a well-run, highly organized home and a healthy environment where our daughters can flourish. We love fresh, whole foods, a tidy kitchen, and spaces that feel calm, organized, and reset. While we have some systems in place, with two young kids and our recent move into a new house, keeping everything on track and figuring out how to organize our new space efficiently has become incredibly time-consuming and is affecting our quality time together.

Although we have cleaners who come regularly, we’re looking for a seasoned, proactive house manager who can fill in the gaps in between—starting with creating and maintaining meaningful systems in our home, tackling laundry with attention to detail, resetting spaces, overseeing household inventory, and proactively handling organizational projects. This will allow us to focus on what matters most to us: having the time to be present as a family and partners, and prioritizing our well-being.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are a proactive house manager who has seen it all and doesn't need a detailed to-do list to show up and get to work. You are emotionally intelligent—you can easily walk in, read the room, and use good judgment to know what needs to happen and when. You understand the importance of showing up on time, communicating clearly, creating meaningful systems that truly hold up, and taking quiet pride in a refreshed, organized household that runs smoothly.

You are detail-oriented and thorough. You quickly notice what needs attention—a kitchen drawer that could be better organized, laundry that needs to be started, toys that could use a better system, an outdoor space that could be refreshed, a living room that needs to be reset—and you handle it seamlessly, without being asked. You are also warm and professional, and you understand how to work respectfully within a family household. Your energy is efficient and grounded—you would describe yourself as capable, self-directed, and comfortable jumping into a new space, immediately building systems and creating order.

Our ideal fit is someone who naturally anticipates needs, has high emotional intelligence, takes professional boundaries seriously, and has excellent time management skills. You can also balance competing priorities with ease and are comfortable taking cues from the family's rhythms—you know when it’s appropriate to step in or step back. You must be comfortable and have experience working with young children (ages 4-7) and feel aligned with a lifestyle that values health, wellness, and active, intentional living.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home, including ongoing projects such as kitchen organization
  • Perform daily resets and light cleaning to keep the home tidy and functional
  • Prepare the home ahead of the regular cleaning service
  • Perform light tidying including dishes, loading/running/unloading the dishwasher, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Handle seasonal swaps for clothing, décor, and bedding as needed
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs as needed
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest preparation as needed
  • Perform proactive maintenance tasks such as changing batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry with attention to detail
  • Ironing, steaming, and special garment care
  • Linen rotation as needed
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Perform occasional deep cleans of appliances, baseboards, and specialty areas (fridge, oven, etc.)
  • Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers
  • Complete organizational projects for toys, kids' gear, and storage areas

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Manage and maintain running household supply lists
  • Complete grocery shopping with attention to the family's dietary preferences
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping
  • Manage mail and packages, including breaking down boxes

Meal Support

  • Prepare healthy snacks for the family in line with low-sugar, whole-foods preferences
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen and dining space

Family Support

  • Provide occasional backup childcare support for one or both children as needed, with a focus on flexibility for date nights, parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other short-term coverage needs (typically a few hours at a time)

Vehicle Upkeep

  • Fuel, clean, and organize the family vehicle as needed
