The host/cashier is responsible for greeting guests, managing table rotations, and facilitating guest requests in a professional manner. They also handle monetary transactions and ensure the restaurant environment remains clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Job Description
Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager and, the Food & Beverage Host/Cashier primary responsibility is to greet guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times and the tendering of all monetary transactions. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- The Host Person is to assist the Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Service Runners as it relates to guest contact and table information
- Estcourt guests to tables using established rotation criteria
- Responsible for conveying special orders, cake orders, special requests information to management
- Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code of the restaurant
- Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant
- Answer the telephone and facilitate guest requests
- Ensure menus have proper inserts and are current according to the most recent change, and replace all menus in poor condition
- Communicate the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management, inform management of guest reactions and comments, and assist management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service
- Frequently check back with guests who are waiting to be seated; make it evident to guests that they have not been forgotten and that tables are being prepared for them
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; shut down podium and forward phones to voice-loop at end of shift
- Operate POS system.
- Handle money and credit transactions.
- Notify manager on duty of any guest concerns.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications:
- High volume restaurant management or supervisory experience required
- Basic knowledge of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine
- Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
- Alcohol Awareness Card
- Health Card
- Minimum age requirement is 21
- Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred.
Physical Demands:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position.
- Experience in a high volume food outlet.
- Experience with touch screens.
- Experience working in a similar resort setting.
- Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
- May be exposed to smoke
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests.
- Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Eye/hand coordination.
- Use of standard office equipment.
- May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.

San Manuel is one of several clans of Serrano Indians, who are the indigenous people of the San Bernardino highlands, passes, valleys and mountains who share a common language and culture. The San Manuel reservation was established in 1891 and recognized as a sovereign nation with the right of self-government. Since time immemorial, the San Manuel tribal community has endured change and hardship. Amidst these challenges the tribe continued to maintain its unique form of governance. Like other governments it seeks to provide a better quality of life for its citizens by building infrastructure, maintaining civil services and promoting social, economic and cultural development. Today San Manuel tribal government oversees many governmental units including the departments of fire, public safety, education and environment.
San Manuel is active in supporting projects in neighboring communities. Nearby cities and towns receive support from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in the way of monetary donations for cultural, social, and economic projects to benefit the common good of the communities in which they live and work.
The reservation which was established in 1891 is home to the Yuhaaviatam Clan of the Serrano Indians who are the indigenous people of San Bernardino highlands, passes, valleys and mountains who share a common language and culture with other clans of Serrano people. The reservation is named after Santos Manuel, a great tribal leader, and is located in southern California, in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountain region, just north of the city of Highland. It consists of just over 900 acres of mostly mountainous land.
Encompassing gaming governmental operations and other enterprises, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is one of the largest employers in the Inland Empire area and employs over 6000 people.
