Hospitality Intern

JOB TITLE: Hospitality Intern- PAID

OVERVIEW: The Hospitality Intern position is responsible for assisting in creating a warm and welcoming environment for guests, ensuring their needs are met and inquiries addressed promptly and courteously, lead and supervise seasonal staff during daily operations, and train new employees on service standards, food handling, and restaurant procedures. The Hospitality Intern must be professional, maintain a positive attitude, and uphold Mau Marine’s mission.

OKOBOJI STORE MISSION: Okoboji Store Bar & Kitchen will make every dining experience easy, enjoyable, and memorable for our customers. We will do this through an exceptional team dedicated to outstanding hospitality, quality food and drinks, and setting the standard for lakeside guest service.

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: General Manager

Key Internal Relationships: FOH Managers, BOH Manager, Servers, Bartenders, Hosts

Direct Reports: Servers

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities will be expected for this position:

• Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment for guests, ensuring their needs are met and inquiries addressed promptly and courteously.
• Handle guest questions, requests, and concerns professionally
• Lead and supervise seasonal staff during daily operations
• Train new employees on service standards, food handling, and restaurant procedures
• Assign daily tasks and oversee staff performance throughout each shift
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Collaborate with front-of-house teams to support daily operations, including reservations, seating, and maintaining a presentable area.
• Participate in team meetings, offering insights and suggestions for improving service efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management or related field is preferred
• Prior experience in hospitality, customer service, or a related field is a plus
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff, and management
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• ServSafe Alcohol Certification
